Lafayette Historic Fencing Academy We offer classes in the use of rapier, rapier and dagger, buckler, longsword, and other forms of weapons used in European schools of Defense.

Western martial arts is one of the fastest-growing sports activities in the United States and Europe. The focus is on rediscovery of the use of weapons from medieval and Renaissance Europe which include the longsword, rapier, and dagger, alone and in combination with defensive items such as the buckler, cloak, and other items. The focus is learning to fence using these weapons and apply the histor

ical teachings of fencing masters such as Capo Ferro and Fabris. The instructors have more than 15 years experience and have been teaching in this facility for greater than 10 years. We offer introductory classes for the beginner with a eight week course for $50. This includes protective gear and weapons that are available for use. In addition to this the student is welcome to continue to attend weekly sessions for the remainder of the year without additional cost. Establish students are asked to pay a $50 a year facility usage fee. This includes advanced instruction and sparring sessions with the instructors and other students. Loaner gear is available.

After 14 years the Lafayette Parks System at Girard Park Rec Center has ended our relationship. It has been a good run and we appreciate that we were able to use the facility for so long. Unfortunately, they have insisted on increasing the room rental charge 5 times over what we were paying. We would need to charge our students a large fee if we were to continue there. If anyone wishes to learn what we offer, we will still have SCA practices in Girard Park on Sunday afternoons at 2PM till.

Thanks to all our students that have made these years worthwhile for us.

Hello all!
Recently with the mandate to require face-masks we were left having difficulties breathing and fencing in them!
