I’ve been practicing yoga and meditation on and off the mat since 1998. My passion for yoga and the journey through self-awareness inspired me to become a certified instructor in 2010. The foundation of my practice combines the physical with an inner emotional and spiritual journey. By integrating body, breath, movement, and meditative awareness, I strive to promote an understand

ing of the interdependency of all these aspects in personal health and wellbeing. As a Mom of two, I feel bringing yoga and mindfulness to our youth is as essential, which lead me to perusing my kids yoga teacher certification through Young Warriors. Yoga is union and creates connections from the inward out. My goal is to bring yoga to all both on and off the mat.

FIGHTING YOUR INNER DEMONS:

The thing about fighting your own demons is allowing yourself to be imperfect. The strive for perfection is what leads to immense internal suffering. Yoga is about being on your own mat, and not allowing your internal judgment to turn into external judgment and vice versa.

We all have demons and they look different to everyone. When conquering your demons, is forgiveness. Allow yourself to be loved as you are, not diminish yourself because you aren't where or what you want to be in the moment. I truly believe our suffering comes from the need to be an idea of perfection that is unattainable and unrealistic.

Life is messy, imperfect, and full of surprises. This is where the joy comes in. If your perspective is of love and acceptance of who you are, regardless of where you are on your path, joy will overcome the demons that like to creep in and destroy joy.

Fighting demons is about realizing they are just parts of you that need love and acceptance, then the letting go can happen.

Self-Care... What is your self-care ritual? Do you have one?

This tends to be the one thing and the first thing that gets thrown out the window when the stress hits the fan. Whether it's the daily stress or unexpected stress, how are we approaching self-care? Especially during the holidays, it's easy to put self-care on the back burner. It seems after all to be a yearly tradition. Then New Year, we resolve to do better.

What if we could create a constant ritual to care for ourselves, our bodies, and our minds? How would we approach each day differently? It's about small steps toward the ultimate goal of Living and Thriving. What small steps can you make today to support your self-care?
