It is with heavy hearts that Carencro Football mourns the passing of one of our own, Atiba Dauzart, Class of 1997. 💙💛

Atiba’s legacy began long before he ever took the field wearing the navy and gold, and it extended far beyond the game of football. While we will always remember the talent, passion, and pride he brought to Carencro wearing #2, some of his greatest accomplishments came after the final whistle—as a husband, a father, a family man, and a man whose life touched so many others.

Football gave us the opportunity to know Atiba as an athlete, but life gave so many the opportunity to know him as much more. The relationships he built, the family he loved, and the memories he created are a legacy greater than anything that could ever be measured on a scoreboard.

To Atiba, thank you for everything you gave to Carencro Football. Thank you for representing the program, for the memories you left behind, and for giving generations of Bears something to remember and be proud of.

There have been many to wear the navy and gold, but when we think of #2, there will always be a special place for Atiba Dauzart.

One of the best to ever wear #2. Forever a Bear. 🕊️💙💛

Carencro Football extends our deepest condolences, prayers, and love to the Dauzart family, his friends, former teammates, and everyone whose life was impacted by Atiba.

WEEK 2 — HONORING A CARENCRO LEGEND

When the Carencro Bears take on Northside in Week 2, we will pause to honor a man whose impact on Carencro football spans more than three decades.

Coach Roland “Rip” Eveland dedicated over 30 years to Carencro High School, serving as a longtime offensive coordinator before becoming the head football coach.

His impact reached far beyond wins and losses. Coach Eveland helped establish the culture, toughness and standard that became synonymous with Carencro football.

Most notably, he was instrumental in the Bears’ historic run to the 1992 Louisiana State Championship—the first state championship in Carencro football history.

Now, decades later, we have the opportunity to celebrate the man who helped build that foundation.

For Andraya Boudreaux, Carencro High was more than just a place to go to school—it was a place where she found confidence, creativity, friendships, and a strong sense of community.

A 2010 graduate, Andraya was involved in soccer, flag football, and softball, with soccer holding a special place in her heart. Some of her favorite memories came from being on the soccer field with her best friends—whether they were freezing through winter games or working hard through miles of practice around campus.

One teacher who made a lasting impact was Mrs. Lane, her art teacher. Andraya remembers her classroom as a place where she could be herself, express her creativity, and feel like she was part of a family.

Today, Andraya works as an Assistive Technology Regional Specialist, photographer, and studio owner.

Her advice to current students is simple: be present, enjoy the moment, work hard, and don’t sweat the small things. High school goes by quickly, so make the most of the memories and the people around you.

Carencro built me by teaching me the value of community, the importance of working hard at what I love, and always striving for greatness.

Some lessons stay with you long after you leave the field. For John Humphrey, Class of 1998, those lessons began at Carencro High, where football, band, and the people who pushed him helped shape the man he would become.

John was a football player who experienced the hard-nosed, physical style of Carencro football in the 1990s. He credits Coach Rip Eveland with having one of the greatest impacts on his life. Coach Rip demanded toughness, discipline, proper technique, and accountability—and those lessons prepared John and his teammates to compete against some of the best programs in the state. That journey ultimately led to a run at the 1996 State Championship, where Carencro fell to West Monroe by a field goal.

But football wasn’t the only place John was challenged to grow. Mr. Square encouraged him to step outside his comfort zone in band, eventually leading John to play bassoon and earn superior ratings in competition. The discipline he developed through football and marching band would later serve him well in the U.S. Army, where he served in an intense airborne combat unit and deployed to Iraq.

Today, John is a Senior Account Manager in technical sales for a specialty chemicals company, having earned a degree in Chemical Engineering.

His message to today’s students is simple but powerful: Don’t let your current situation define your future. John openly admits that he wasn’t a great student in high school and struggled academically, but he eventually found his direction and went on to earn one of the most challenging engineering degrees.

Looking back, John says Carencro built him by “laying the foundation.”

And that foundation carried him a long way—from the football field and marching band, to the Army, college, and a successful career.
