Macon Youth Football and Cheer

We had our jamboree last Saturday with all 16 of our teams along with 4 Hartsville teams and 3 Westmoreland teams participating. It was hot, but everyone played and cheered their hearts out and seemed to have a good time. We will begin our regular season next Saturday, August 29th at Pat Parker Field.

Our league is right in the middle of our only actual fundraisers over the next week. We have a program that is printed each year that has all of our teams and their pictures in it. We sell ads to place in this program. Any businesses, local or otherwise, can purchase an ad along with any individuals. That means parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors, family or friends can place ads also. If any individual or business would like to purchase one of these, please contact your coach or any officer of the league. You can also check with the pressbox on game day and we will be sure to get your ad in.

We do have an incentive of a pizza party for the team or squad from each age group that turns in the most ads (with a minimum). Right now we have had the Lil Titans Football and the Outlaws Football teams turn in several ads each and are leading in sales. The money raised from this goes to purchasing new helmets and shoulder pads along with other equipment that may be needed for all teams and squads.

Our pictures will be made on August 29th by McCormick's Photography with these being used as the team picture in the program. The scheduled time for each teams' pictures will be handed out this week to all teams. Our league does get a percentage back of any packages sold. We encourage every one to please have your child present for the team picture so they will be sure to make it in the program and for those that want to purchase a team picture to be able to have the whole team included.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to invite the community to come out each Saturday and watch some exciting games of football while supporting all these young girls and boys cheering and playing. Our flag games begin at 11 each day and then there will be 5 to 7 tackle games after that. Pelican's Ice is set up at the games and there are concessions available. Come and watch the future stars of Macon County!

We have had our drafts for all of our divisions over the past couple of weeks so everyone should have heard by now which team or squad they are on. All cheerleaders that are on either Gators or Vols team that need a new uniform will need to be fitted for that style of uniform. Your coach and/or an officer of the league will contact you with that date and time. We will be ordering football jerseys and cheerleading uniforms within the next week or so. That being said, anyone that still wants to sign up may do so, but we need it to be done within the next week so we can get everything ordered. Our jamboree will be on Saturday August 15 so everyone please make plans to attend this kick off to our 2026 season. Please call or text 615 670 6637 to get a time set up to sign up.

We had our final scheduled sign up today and we had a great one! We wound up with over 320 total kids in our league between cheer, flag and tackle football. We will be having our drafts in mid June, (probably June 8th and 9th for tackle, with cheer being a little later), so tackle and cheer should hear after that which team they are on and when they begin practice. We look forward to an exciting season this year and hope to see everyone this fall.

We are still taking sign ups right now if anyone missed them or still wants to play or cheer. I know several have been on vacation or out of town and other sports are still going on. We had our first sign-up for this season Saturday and we had an amazing turnout. We had close to 100 to sign up for cheerleading, flag, and tackle football. We will be having another sign-up this Saturday, May 16 from 8-4 at the football field so please try and make arrangements to attend this in case you missed this past Saturday! We still have plenty of equipment as we tried to make sure we were prepared. If you need more info, please call 615 670 6637.

Our drafts for tackle football will be held after our sign ups at some point with the officers letting the coaches know and then they will be getting into contact with the players after that. Our flag draft will be held after the tackle divisions.

We would like to see everyone this Saturday to get signed up for our 31st year of youth football and cheer.

Football and Cheer Season is right around the corner and we are so excited for our season to begin! Last year we had an amazing year as we had close to 400 kids to cheer or play football with us. We will kick our 31st season off with our 1st open general meeting of the year on Sunday, May 3 at 3:00 PM at the high school football field on Meador Drive beside of Lafayette Elementary School. This meeting will be for the election of officers, appointment of all head coaches for each cheer squad and football team, and appointment of our board of directors for the 2026 season. All coaches are urged to attend this meeting as the teams must be handed over to new head coaches in person or by letter from the outgoing coach and accepted in person. Anyone who is interested in how the league operates or just wants to help our children is invited to attend also. We will also be talking about our upcoming sign-ups on Saturday May 9 and Saturday May 16 from 8-4 at the football field. Papers should be going have out to all students over the next couple weeks also with info on these sign-ups and the league in general. We had our first meeting for our girls flag division today. We had good interest that showed up and it was decided that we will be starting this league this coming spring. We will work with any other leagues that may be going on at that time to ensure that all girls get to participate in any and all activities that they want to. This also enables us to have the practice areas that we need for our teams.

We will have more meetings along before we start the season. We want to offer the girls in our community the opportunity for this new endeavor as several neighboring counties are already participating in girls flag at the high school level. Hopefully this will give our girls a head start in this event.
