That’s a wrap on the 2025-26 wrestling season! The weekend ended with some dominating wins, but unfortunately our girls came up one spot short from a trip to state. We are so proud of our sectional qualifiers giving it their all on Friday, and we have complete confidence that next year they’ll be up on that podium!!

As the season comes to a close, I can’t express how proud I am to be apart of this wonderful team ❤️ Not only are they hard-working, caring, and funny, but they’re superstar athletes!! Together we accomplished so much this season, and next year is only going to be better 💪 Our accomplishments this season:

FIRST-EVER CONFERENCE CHAMPS IN WI

4x TOURNAMENT CHAMPS

200+ COMBINED WINS (120+ combined pins!)

And a season of memories we’ll never forget! Although we’re closing the book on 25-26, our championship team is gonna come back ready for action next fall!

WIAA REGIONAL CHAMPS!!
Today was a day that brought many highs and many lows. With recent news that only the top two qualify for sectionals, our girls did what they’re good at—winning!! Our team came together to win our regionals tournament, with every girl putting in effort to get the points we needed to beat several high-ranked teams!

We had several girls qualify for sectionals! Abby and Maya both won their regional brackets! Sierra Bergen and Farrah both placed second, and those four moved on to continue their post-season run. We are so excited to cheer on and support this group as they face the tough challenge of sectionals next week, we believe in all of you!!

It’s with heavy hearts that we acknowledge that some girls are done with individual postseason today. Each and every one of them wrestled with all the intensity and perseverance of a champion, but we had many good girls in all our brackets and at the end of the day, that’s how wrestling goes!

We have a special shoutout to our seniors!! Anne, last years’ first state qualifier and team captain, had an end to her second postseason fight today against hard competition. After quite an impressive two-year run in this sport, we hope she’s proud in her impact and all she accomplished! Lluvia has fractured fingers and was not competing at regionals today. Her smiling face and always-happy personality will definitely be missed on the mats next season!

And lastly, Mia, Quinn, Sam, and Sierra G (who did not wrestle regionals) are just getting started in all that will accomplish over the next few years!! Their effort and attitude has definitely paid off as we’ve seen each of them grow in monumental ways over the course of the season! Keep going strong ladies, 2026-27 is going to be another great season for the Old Abes!!

Successful tournament at North to close out a crazy-busy two weeks of wrestling! Our girls wrestled a new slew of faces as many of the teams there yesterday were from Minnesota. Abby and Farrah did a fantastic job against adversity and both placed fourth on the day!!!🏅For all of our girls, this tournament brought some tough challenges. I am so proud of each of them for how they fought through every loss and win, and I know that having a reset week will help them improve and comeback even stronger at our final regular-season tournament of the year!!

BRC CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!!!
Our girls made HISTORY tonight by becoming the FIRST EVER conference champions in Wisconsin women’s wrestling history!! Every match was wrestled with intensity and every victory was outstanding, leading to a performance that shows every bit of grit and hard work these girls display day-in and day-out!! Without each and every one of these amazing wrestlers, we couldn’t have the opportunities that we have today. This victory solidifies this team as a FORCE to be reckoned with!! 💪

Parent’s Night this Thursday! Wrestling starts at 5:30, with duels against Ladysmith and Saint Croix! Come out to support our wrestling families and celebrate our seniors as we get to the final stretch of the season ❤️

3X CHAMPIONS IN ONE WEEKEND!!

Our girls started off the weekend with a bang by winning against our Crosstown rival school, the North Huskies. We had some clutch wins to bring our final score to 30-24 and bring the trophy to the south side of town!!

Secondly, we got tournament team champions at the Saint Croix Falls Multi-state Tournament! Our girls persevered through many hard matches, seeing some amazing victories and heartbreaking losses! In the end we had many place winners:

And last but not least, some of our girls headed with the boys to Shell Lake for the third event of the week. And once again our girls dominated with ANOTHER tournament championship! We had several podiums on the afternoon:

What a DOMINATING weekend at Ladysmith for our girls team!! Overall girls tournament CHAMPIONS and many individual place winners!! 🏆 So proud of each and every one of these ladies for all of their hard work, it pays off out on the mat at tournaments like these!

ALMOST MEET DAY!! Tomorrow, December 12th at 4:30pm, join us for our Inaugural Memorial Girls Wrestling Tournament! Some of the top competitors in the state wrestle this tournament, but we have confidence our girls will be their match! Good luck Old Abes!

NUMBER ONE AT BRF!! Our Eau Claire Memorial Girls team did an AMAZING job at the first tournament of the year, securing a Team 1st Place finish above of several ranked teams!! Each and every girl wrested their hearts out and many saw great personal success! The camaraderie and friendship was amazing to witness, as we could not have a better start to our year!
