This dance is such a special one to me šŸ’›šŸ¦

I Just Can’t Wait to Be King was the very first dance I ever choreographed as a teacher for my first class's recital. It brings back so many memories of those early days of teaching and all the sweet little dancers I had the joy of working with.

Getting to revisit it now has been so fun and meaningful. It reminds me how much I’ve always loved helping little ones move, learn, and express themselves through dance.

If your kiddos feel like dancing along, this is a fun one to try at home! 😊

One of the most common questions I’ve gotten over the years is: what should kids wear to dance?

If you’re just dancing at home, it really doesn’t have to be anything fancy- just something comfortable that your child can move freely in.

In this video, I share a few easy suggestions, along with what to keep in mind if your child is in an in-person class (studio guidelines).

At this age, dance should feel fun and approachable- and sometimes just knowing that to wear helps take away that little bit of uncertainty. šŸ’›

One of my favorite things about working with little ones in dance is how naturally they move šŸ’›

They don’t worry about being perfect—they just jump, spin, wiggle, and have fun.

It’s such a good reminder that movement doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful. Even a few minutes of dancing around the living room can be so good for them.

Do your kids love to dance at home?

I’ve been having so much fun revisiting some of my favorite dances and songs for little ones lately šŸ’›

This one is set to Skidamarink, which has always been such a fun and sweet song to use with kids. I love how the music is gentle, catchy, and has just a touch of silly in it.

Moments like these remind me why I loved teaching littles so much—getting to see their personalities come out, their confidence grow, and their joy in something as simple as movement and music.

If your kiddos feel like dancing along, this is a fun and easy one to try at home šŸ’—

I recently started creating some simple dance videos for little ones again, and it has been so fun to revisit my love for both dance and teaching šŸ’›

This one is extra special to me—it’s a dance I originally created for a recital a few years ago (my daughter's class), so some of you may recognize it 😊 It brought back so many sweet memories of my time teaching and all the joy those classes held.

Teaching littles to dance has always been something I’ve truly loved. Getting to see them learn, grow, and have fun moving to music is such a gift.

Ballet is such a beautiful and timeless form of dance šŸ’—

It’s often seen as very structured and traditional, but at its heart, ballet is actually a wonderful foundation for all movement. So many other styles of dance are built on the basic techniques that ballet teaches.

For young children especially, ballet can be such a gentle and beneficial place to begin.

It helps develop:
-balance
-coordination
-body awareness
-strength and flexibility
-creativity and expression

And beyond the physical benefits, it also gives children a chance to move to music, use their imagination, and grow in confidence as they learn something new.

It doesn’t have to be perfect or super serious—ballet at this age can be playful, simple, and full of joy šŸ’›

If you’ve ever considered dance for your child, ballet is such a sweet and meaningful place to start.

One of my former dance students recently thought I was THE Ms. Rachel.
I actually get this quite often, even at a doctor’s appointment he seemed convinced I was actually her šŸ¤”šŸ˜….
Watching some of my former dancers at the Live to Dance: Studio of the Arts recital touched my heart 🄰 I love seeing the kids continue on in their dance education, I cry every time.

Hi dance families!
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer breaks so far.
I just wanted to share an update with you all for the upcoming dance season.
As many of you know, my husband and I have gone full time into ministry and with that comes some new responsibilities and priorities. It’s an exciting time!
But this also means that my preschool dance classes do not fit into our life at this time. So I will not be offering these classes this coming season.
Alissa will be having class for ages 5 and up at Live to Dance: Studio of the Arts!
And I will be having occasional Christian, praise and worship dance classes available if anyone is interested in that.

Thank you all so much for your love and support the last few years. I’ve gotten to know so many awesome kiddos and families šŸ˜Šā¤ļø
