Ski Big Bear offers skiing and snowboarding on 18 trails, 7 lifts including 3 Magic Carpet lifts, and 650' of vertical. When "Mother Nature" isn't sending snow our way, our snowmakers make sure the trails are blanketed with as much snow as possible. Our trails offer something for every ability.

Summer projects are well underway at Ski Big Bear as we continue preparing for an even better winter season ahead. Two of our three Pisten Bully 400 Snowcats have already been sent out and returned after receiving full service and maintenance to improve reliability and performance on the mountain this winter. On the lift side, 20% of all chairs were removed and the grips sent out for required annual testing and maintenance. They’ve already passed inspection and returned, and crews are now cleaning, painting, and reinstalling components as chairs begin going back on the line soon.

Mountain improvements are also continuing across the slopes, with trail edge clearing completed on Whispering Run, Jamboree, and Grizzly to improve skiing, snowmaking, and grooming operations. Work will continue next on Thundercloud. In addition, more than a mile of brand-new snowmaking pipe has arrived and installation will begin soon, replacing aging infrastructure to improve snowmaking efficiency and reliability for seasons to come. The project is already underway with crews actively removing old pipe throughout the summer in preparation for the new system installation.

Ski Patrol just got… hooved 🐐

Meet our newest recruits: the Goat Patrol. You may have seen them holding it down for a few days this winter, but what you might not know is now they’re year-round employees.

Starting this summer, these legends will be out on the trails:

🌿 Keeping grass short (all-natural mowing crew) and helping maintenance stay ahead of trail work
🌎 Providing a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to machines
🪨 Expertly navigating terrain better than a mower

And come winter? They’re back on duty:

❄️ Unmatched balance on steep terrain
👀 Elite line scouting (they always find the best routes)
🚫 Safety enforcement (no one argues with a goat)
⛑️ Surprisingly strong rescue support (and great morale boosters)

We’re proud to invest in this new addition to our patrol team that works hard, plays hard, and eats everything in sight.

As the winter season comes to a close, we’d like to thank our guests, members, passholders, and staff for making it such a memorable one at Ski Big Bear. We will be open Saturday, March 14 from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM and Sunday, March 15 from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with March 15 marking the final day of the season.

This has truly been a season to remember. With great weather from Mother Nature and excellent snow conditions throughout the winter, the mountain delivered countless days of skiing, riding, and time spent together outdoors. Ski Big Bear has always been a special place for families and friends to gather, learn, and enjoy the snow, and we’re grateful to everyone who chose to spend their winter with us. Thank you for making so many unforgettable winter memories on the mountain. We look forward to welcoming you back next season!

Some people like to keep their quiet moments to themselves, but this is one I wanted to share because it was simply breathtaking.

On Sunday morning I was on sweep, opening the mountain, and as I started my run I looked out and saw the most beautiful view. The mountain was completely still, peaceful, and just incredible. I had to stop and capture the moment.

It was one of those scenes that reminds you how lucky we are to be out there. So I figured I shouldn’t keep this one to myself… I wanted to share it with everyone.
