Yesterday, our 10U Lardieri girls took the field for the first time this season, and they made sure our girl Mya was with them. 💙🥎 Every girl wore a bow for Mya , and before the game, we left first base empty. As the first pitch was thrown in her honor, there was a quiet reminder that while she wasn’t physically standing there with us, her presence was undeniable.
We couldn’t help but think about the player she was, the teammate she was, and all the things we were still so excited to watch her become. We were especially looking forward to seeing what she could do on the mound. That will always be one of the hardest parts, knowing there were so many moments ahead of her that we will never get to see.
But we will carry her into every one of them.
And we carry Siggy with us, too. 💙💙💙
Every time these girls take the field, Mya and Siggy are there, in the stories we tell, in the memories we hold, in the extra cheer from the dugout, and in the love that surrounds this team. We miss them. We love them. And we will never stop saying their names. We can’t change what happened, and we can’t fill the space they left behind. But we can choose to honor them in how we play, how we love one another, and how we show up for each other.
So, every time we step onto that field, we’ll bring them with us.
For Mya. For Siggy. For Storm. 💙
Forever our #8. Forever #7.
Forever our teammates. 🥎💙💛⛈️
