🙏🏻Pray for this Warrior🙏🏻
Dominic was born with a very rare skin disease called linear Varrocous epidermal nevus. Short terminology is epidermal nevus or just nevus.
Basically it’s a huge mole that is all over his chest, torso, arm and back. It can be dangerous to his health. Having this skin disease does make Dominic susceptible to possibly getting skin cancer at some point in his life. Thank God he has not had to face that yet, and we hope he never will. That’s why it’s so important to remove as much of the nevus as possible.
Dominic has had 7 surgeries already and has about 4-6 more to go. Each phase consists of 2-3 surgeries. Dominic goes into surgery for 4-6 hours depending on how many expanders they decide to do. During that first surgery of the start of this phase, they surgically place tissue expanders inside Dominic under his good skin. Saline is injected daily into Dominic's expanders for 3-4 months which stretches his good existing skin to prepare him for his next surgery. Once his Doctor determines that his expanded skin is ready, they go in for the second surgery of this phase to remove the nevus. Once they remove the nevus, they then take the expanders out and use that good stretched skin and pull it over the removed nevus area and sew him up. That surgery is 7-9 hours long. Dominic's recovery time is normally 30 days.
We are blessed beyond measure to have this amazing Doctor to help Dominic look as normal as possible and not be made fun of or bullied. We wanted to make our Warrior crew & family aware of his situation and all he has to endure. We thank you all for your love, support, and your understanding of Dominic’s delicate situation.
Love,
The Bruchet family
