🕑 Routine & Motivation

Work with the daylight, not against it – since the days get shorter in the fall, try moving your workouts earlier. A brisk walk or lunchtime workout can give you a boost of sunlight and energy that helps fight off that sluggish, cozy-season feeling.

Dress smart, not heavy – layers are your friend. Start with something light and add a jacket or hoodie you can peel off once you warm up. That way, the cold won’t stop you from heading out the door.

Make it seasonal – motivation often comes from enjoying the process. Go for a run through the changing leaves, hike a local trail, or sign up for a fall fitness challenge. Tying your workouts to the season keeps things fresh.

Set realistic fall goals – instead of chasing perfection, focus on consistency. Maybe it’s hitting 10,000 steps most days, strength training twice a week, or training for a Turkey Trot. Achievable goals build momentum.

Lean on accountability – invite a friend for weekend hikes, join a local fitness class, or track your progress in an app. Having a plan (and sometimes a buddy) makes it easier to keep showing up.

Good posture isn’t about sitting or standing perfectly straight all day. It’s about having the strength, mobility, and body awareness to maintain comfortable positions and move efficiently throughout your day.

Spending long periods sitting, looking down at a phone, or doing repetitive activities can contribute to rounded shoulders, forward head positioning, and stiffness through the chest and upper back. The good news? Posture can be trained!

Try incorporating these exercises into your routine:

💪 Strengthen your upper back

Seated rows — strengthen the muscles that help support your shoulders.
Face pulls — target the upper back and rear shoulders.
Band pull-aparts — help strengthen the muscles between the shoulder blades.

🧘 Improve mobility

Wall angels — encourage shoulder and upper-back mobility.
Doorway chest stretch — gently stretches tight chest muscles.
Thoracic extensions — improve mobility through the upper back.

🧠 Strengthen your core & neck

Chin tucks — strengthen the muscles that help support proper head positioning.
Dead bugs — build core control while maintaining a stable trunk.
Bird dogs — improve core stability and coordination.

You don’t need to hold yourself rigidly upright all day. The best posture is one you can comfortably move out of! Change positions frequently, take movement breaks, strengthen your body, and work on mobility.

Small improvements in strength and movement can make a big difference in how you feel every day!

☀️ How do you start your morning?

Be honest…

📱 Is your phone the first thing you reach for when your alarm goes off?
😴 Do you hit snooze… once, twice, or way too many times?
🛌 Do you wake up feeling rested—or already wishing you had another hour?

If you answered yes to any of these, it might be time to rethink your morning routine.

How we start our morning can set the tone for the rest of our day. When we wake up rushed, stressed, and immediately focused on everything we have to do, it’s easy to carry that frantic energy with us all day.

But what if you started your day differently?

Many successful people build intentional habits into their mornings—things like exercise, prayer, reading, journaling, and meditation.

And meditation doesn’t have to mean sitting quietly for 30 minutes in a perfectly peaceful room. Even 5 minutes can give you a chance to slow down, clear your mind, and set a positive intention for the day.

🧘‍♀️ Regular meditation may help with:
✨ Managing stress and anxiety
✨ Improving focus and attention
✨ Reducing feelings of overwhelm
✨ Encouraging greater calm and emotional balance
✨ Supporting better sleep
✨ Practicing more compassion and patience

Think of meditation as a workout for your mind. The more consistently you practice, the more comfortable you become with slowing down, redirecting your thoughts, and being present.

And perhaps one of the biggest benefits?

Instead of letting your day happen to you, you get to decide how you want to show up for it.

So here's my question for you:

👇 What is the FIRST thing you do when you wake up?

📱 Check your phone
☕ Grab coffee
😴 Hit snooze
🧘‍♀️ Meditate
🏃‍♀️ Exercise
🙏 Pray

✨ Something else?

If you're in your 50s and your joints ache, you're not alone.

We hear it all the time...

"My knees hurt."
"My back is always stiff."
"I want to exercise, but I'm afraid it'll make things worse."

The truth is, doing less often makes the problem worse.

Your body was made to move.

You don't need to run a marathon or spend hours in the gym. A daily walk, a little strength training, and gentle stretching can help reduce stiffness and make moving feel easier over time.

What you eat matters too.

Eating more protein, fruits, vegetables, and drinking enough water can help your body recover and feel better. Cutting back on processed foods and sugar can also make a difference.

Getting older doesn't mean you have to live in pain.

Start small. Stay consistent. Your body will thank you.

If aches and stiffness have been holding you back, comment "MOVE" below or send me a message. We'd love to help you get started.

August is a great month to get outside and soak up some vitamin D. But did you know if you’re not getting enough magnesium, your vitamin D intake is essentially useless? More than 50% of Americans don’t get the recommended amount of the mineral magnesium and outside of rendering the important vitamin D irrelevant, a lack of magnesium can cause a host of health issues you may not even realize are associated.

Brain Fog

Within every cell of the human body are structures called mitochondria responsible for producing energy our bodies use for everything we do. Mitochondria depend on magnesium to produce this energy and a lack of it can lead to poor memory and concentration and slower cognitive responses.

Headaches and Migraines

If you’re suffering form chronic migraines or headaches you maybe lacking magnesium. Magnesium helps balance calcium within neuronal cells. A surplus of calcium can contribute to overstimulated brain cells which is a contributing factor to headaches and migraines.

Constipation and Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Magnesium is responsible for softening your stool by drawing water into the bowels. A lack of magnesium causes harder stools which don’t move through the colon easily and cause constipation. Magnesium also helps regulate muscle contractions in the intestines and relieves discomfort and cramping associated with IBS.

Fatigue

Because magnesium is vital to our body’s energy levels, a deficiency can affect over 300 enzymatic process in your body. Magnesium also supports the adrenal glands which also contribute to energy production. The lack of magnesium makes it harder for our body to perform and drains our energy resulting in fatigue.

Insomnia

Sleep quality relies on your body’s production of GABA, a chemical in the brain that promotes relaxation. Because magnesium is involved in producing this chemical, a lack of magnesium can result in insomnia or poor sleep quality.

Muscle Spasms and Cramping

One of the first noticeable symptoms of a magnesium deficiency is cramping and muscle spasms. Magnesium plays a vital role in most muscle functions and nerve transmission. Inadequate amounts of magnesium affect muscle contractions leading to spasms and cramps most likely in the legs and feet. Women will also experience worse period cramps if their magnesium levels are low.
