Talking drive… When you walk or run the knee bends to stay underneath the hip, so the hip can continue to move forward. So anytime that the drive leg in the pitching motion gets long. it holds the hip back and almost always leads to leaning forward of the shoulders.

It’s because that’s why!

Position the pointer finger in the front of the ball. Easy drill to work it.

Rule of thumb: where ever the thumb goes the ball goes.
-
Some pitches, like the drop, the thumb leads, or pulls. Others, like curve and rise, the thumb trails, or drives. The reason the thumb is such a big deal, is because its motion directly affects the shoulder joint’s position. When the thumb is doing its job in a given pitch, the shoulder joint will then provide proper support to the snap of the pitch (or the cut of the fingers as we would say).

Resistance is different than drive. If the front leg drives back, it’s over compensating. The front side should equal what the backside delivers.
-
The space between the front foot and the hip is key! Now that’s only half the story… if you want the arm to benefit from resistance, the back shoulder needs to move into the front side’s line of resistance (not around). This is true for every pitch and is one of the most overlooked parts of the front side’s resistance. Start with the foot and hip, then let the backside work into it properly to get the whippiest snap you’ve ever had!

All pitches should be spun from close to the body to support the effort of the fingers.

Your weight needs to support your fingers or the fingers will never win the fight and impact the break of your pitch the way you intend

It’s these little details that make all the difference

Though popular, a vertical positioned PVC does not create front side shoulder stability in the direction we want. We like adding an angle to the PVC so our pitchers learn to throw in to it, or against in.
