Genuine question for this community πŸ‘‡

Do you find yourself absorbing the emotions of people around you β€” even strangers?

If a friend is anxious, you become anxious.

If the room is tense, your whole body feels it. If someone you love is hurting, you can't just feel bad for them β€” you feel it WITH them.

That's hyper empathy. And it's not a flaw. It's how your nervous system is wired.

My latest blog post breaks down exactly what it is, the hidden costs of carrying it unmanaged, and how to start creating space for your own emotions again.

πŸ’¬ How do you handle absorbing other people's emotions? I'd love to hear what works for you.

"Depression is being colorblind and constantly told how colorful the world is." β€” Atticus

If you've ever struggled with depression, you know how exhausting it is when the world expects you to just see the color.
This quote is one of 50 on the blog right now β€” and it's the one that stops people mid-scroll every time.

No toxic positivity. No "just think happy thoughts." Just honest, validating words for anyone who feels deeply.

"You're too sensitive." "Why do you take everything so personally?" "Just let it go."

If you've heard those words more times than you can count, this one's for you.

We just updated one of our most-visited blog posts β€” Empathic vs Empathetic β€” and added something I think you're really going to connect with: a deep dive into the 5 core wounds that highly sensitive and empathic people carry, plus a reframe and a micro-tip for each one.

Because being empathic isn't a flaw. It's wiring. And it's time to start treating it that way.

Read it here: https://www.melissaschwartz.com/highly-sensitive-people/empathic-vs-empathetic/

Have you ever wished you could just turn your sensitivity off? Tell me in the comments.

Empathic vs empathetic, both are correct, but for highly sensitive people and empaths, the real question goes much deeper. Learn what these words reveal about your emotional wiring.

If your child is struggling in school right now, I want you to read this.

Thomas Edison was called "too stupid to learn." Albert Einstein was labeled "mentally slow." Walt Disney was fired for "lacking imagination."

These weren't children without gifts. They were children whose gifts didn't fit the mold.

So many of the highly sensitive children I work with are quietly carrying the weight of academic struggle β€” internalizing it, believing it means something about who they are and what they're capable of.

It doesn't.

I wrote this post to give you something to share with your child the next time school feels impossible. Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer our sensitive kids isn't a better study strategy β€” it's a bigger story about what success can look like.

Do you know there are 7 different kinds of empaths?

Most sensitive people don't.

They just know they feel everything β€” and spend years wondering why they're so drained, so overwhelmed, so deeply affected by things others seem to brush off.

✨ Emotional Empaths absorb feelings that aren't theirs
✨ Physical Empaths feel others' pain in their own body
✨ Intuitive Empaths just know things they shouldn't
✨ Animal Empaths feel what animals feel
✨ Earth Empaths are physically shifted by the planet's energy
✨ Plant Empaths are deeply restored by nature and green living things
✨ Dream Empaths process the world through vivid, emotional dreams

When you know your type, everything shifts.

The exhaustion makes sense.

The overwhelm has an explanation.

And you finally stop asking what's wrong with you.

Which one are you? Drop it below πŸ‘‡
