One of my favorite parts of gentling mustangs is the moment they start feeling comfortable enough to let their personalities show.

At first, many are focused on simply figuring out this strange new world and whether the people in it can be trusted. But as that confidence grows, little pieces of who they are start to emerge.

Some are curious. Some are bold. Some are mischievous. Some are absolute sweethearts. And some have very strong opinions about absolutely everything. 😆

Watching a horse go from surviving to genuinely engaging with the world around them is one of the most rewarding parts of the process.

🌻 Youth Trainers - This Opportunity Is for You! 🌻

Have you been interested in competing in the Bluegrass Mustang Makeover, but don't have a suitable setup for a mustang or aren't quite sure you're ready?

Sunflower Horsemanship is offering to sponsor and mentor up to THREE local youth trainers (Louisville/Oldham County area)!

Selected youth trainers will have access to:
🐴 A BLM-compliant mustang pen and housing for their competition horse
🐴 Hands-on mentorship and guidance throughout the competition
🐴 Support from pickup day through the makeover

If a lack of facilities, experience, or confidence has been what's holding you back, this is your chance to give it a try. You don't have to do it alone!

Mustangs have a way of teaching us far more than horse training, and SFH would love to help a few young trainers take that first step.

A year ago, I packed up my life and moved to Kentucky with no idea what the future would hold.
The day before yesterday marks exactly one year since that move, and yesterday a very special piece of my Maryland chapter arrived here in Kentucky.

This is Stardust. ❤️

During my time training at Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue, she quickly became one of my favorite horses. She's sassy, opinionated, and never afraid to tell you exactly what she's thinking. The kind of horse that leaves an impression long after you walk away.

I never imagined that one day she'd be mine.
But life has a funny way of bringing things full circle.

After a long journey, Stardust is officially home, and I couldn't be more excited to have this mare as part of my family. It feels like the perfect way to mark one year in Kentucky: by welcoming a horse that meant so much to me during the chapter that came before it.

Welcome home, Stardust. 🥰🐴❤️
