Lyons Aquatics Lyons Swim Club offers successful year round swim team, masters swim team, water polo, and dive programs to the members of our community.

We are a year round comprehensive swim program located in Western Springs (Lyons Township High School – South) and LaGrange (LyonsTownship High School – North) areas.

Come learn from Champions League Champ Coach Fran Fernández at the CNAB x Lyons clinic on June 22-23!

Fran Fernández is the head coach of CNAB’s men’s first team and has been part of the club since 2004. Before becoming head coach, he was one of the most impactful players at CNAB, helping shape the club’s winning culture and identity. He is also an Olympian, having represented Spain at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. After his playing career, he continued contributing as an assistant coach and youth coach, eventually taking over the first team and leading CNAB into its next chapter. Fernandez is the head coach of the CNAB squad that just won the Champions League, the ultimate European water polo tournament!

Emilio Bautista is the assistant coach of CNAB’s men’s first team. With more than 20 years of experience in water polo, he has worked as a head coach in Spain’s División de Honor, served as technical director of the Madrid Swimming Federation, and collaborated for 11 years with the youth categories of the Spanish Swimming Federation. His experience brings knowledge, discipline, and a strong developmental approach to the CNAB staff. Bautista is the assistant coach of the CNAB squad that just won the Champions League, the ultimate European water polo tournament!

Unai Lema is a young CNAB player who has grown through the club’s system since childhood. A Spanish center defender, he joined CNAB in 2010 and has already earned success with the first team, including Spanish League titles, Copa Catalunya, and Copa del Rey honors. He has also built a strong international youth résumé, including a European title in 2024 and medals at multiple youth European and World Championships. His development reflects CNAB’s strong youth pathway and commitment to producing high-level players from within the club. Lema is part of the CNAB squad that just won the Champions League, the ultimate European water polo tournament!

Come learn from Champions League Champ Alessandro Velotto at the CNAB x Lyons clinic on June 22-23!

Alessandro Velotto is an Italian defender who joined CNAB in 2025 after playing for top European clubs including Canottieri Napoli, Pro Recco, and CN Marseille. He is also an Olympian, having represented Italy at Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024, and won an Olympic bronze medal in 2016. He also brings world-class international experience, including World Championship gold in 2019, World Championship silver in 2024, and three Champions League titles. His experience adds leadership, defensive quality, and championship pedigree to CNAB. Velotto is part of the CNAB squad that just won the Champions League, the ultimate European water polo tournament!

Biel Gomila is a young Spanish center defender who joined CNAB in 2024 after developing at CN Catalunya. Standing at 201 cm, he brings size and defensive presence to the team. He has already built an impressive international youth résumé, including a European title in 2024 and medals at multiple youth European and World Championships. Biel is part of the CNAB squad that defeated FTC today to advance to the Champions League Finals! They face Pro Recco on June 13th for the Champions League title!

Come learn from Unai Aguirre at the CNAB x Lyons clinic on June 22-23!

Unai Aguirre is a goalkeeper for Zodiac CN Atlètic-Barceloneta and the Spanish National Team. An Olympic athlete and one of the rising stars of international water polo, Unai has helped Spain win the 2022 World Championship and the 2024 European Championship. Known for his explosive saves, composure, and leadership in goal, he represents the next generation of elite Spanish water polo talent. On June 11th Unai plays in the Champions League semi-finals in Malta, showcasing the best teams in European water polo!

Come learn from Alberto Munárriz at the CNAB x Lyons clinic on June 22-23!

Alberto Munárriz is the current captain of CNAB and one of the club’s most experienced and accomplished players. A Spanish international and long-time member of Barceloneta, he brings leadership, size, and elite-level experience to the team. He is also an Olympian, having represented Spain at the Olympic Games, including Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024. His career includes major success with CNAB, including multiple Spanish league titles, Copa del Rey titles, and Supercopa victories, along with international achievements with the Spanish national team. Alberto Munárriz captains the CNAB squad heading to the Champions League Final 4 this weekend showcasing the best teams in all of Europe!

Over the next two weeks we will continue announcing more players and coaches who are coming to Chicago for the clinic! Make sure to secure your spot if you want to make sure you can learn from some of the best talent in water polo!

Yesterday we had the chance to participate in the La Grange Pet Parade for the first time in quite a while — and it was a lot of fun.

Candy, small giveaways, a lot of walking, and a great opportunity to be part of the community outside the pool.

Thank you to everyone who came out, walked with us, and supported Lyons Aquatics along the route.

Events like these remind us that the club is about more than practices and meets.

Already looking forward to the next one. 👏
