When I decided to change the name of my company 🙄 the name “Athenas Bog” was the first to come to me, and the first I wrote down. But to be honest I wasn’t sure about it...what it meant, how it would be received, or if it even resonated with me. It was a name that could be taken many different ways, I mean a “bog” could be a wetland or a bathroom depending on what country you say it in......and Athenas is the goddess of wisdom but also of war and I try to be a humble & peaceful yogi....I eventually decided against it. Then I pulled these two spear looking things out of the creek in the woods

My great-great grandmother came to this country with her sister from in Ireland 🍀 She fell in love with and told her family and friends to invest in the land 🌾 and we are still here today! So often land that is inherited is quickly sold and subdivisions and strip malls are built upon ground that was once home and farmland for generations before it. I watched this happen as a child growing up in Hikes Point. We played for years in the cow fields of the farm across the street, then watched it turn into a golf course within a years time. Now I’m not opposed to progress or growth, but as I watch the same thing happening now as an adult I realize how precious and rare it is when the new generation decides to forgo selling and works the land or shares it with others in some form. I want to take this as an opportunity to thank a special lady that inherited a .lagrange.quarry and instead of selling, poured her money, heart, soul, sweat, and tears into a that she shares with all of us!!
