Throughout pregnancy I planned & prepared my body & mind for a natural, unmedicated labor & birth. I did prenatal yoga, prenatal chiropractic adjustments, birth courses, pelvic floor therapy, perineal massage, read several books & binged many podcasts on natural childbirth, & hypnobirthing.

I told my husband that I would be “devastated” if I ended up needing a c-section. I put the fear out of my mind & assumed I would have the birth experience I wanted. Then, at 36 weeks, we found out baby was frank breech. For weeks I did everything I could to encourage him to turn, but he stubbornly stayed head-up & I was scheduled for a c-section. I was heartbroken that I was being robbed of the empowering birth I had hoped & planned for.

But the birth was still beautiful, overwhelmingly joyful, & the most profound experience of my life. Most importantly, our son Ryker was safe & healthy- & I thank God for that every day. The significance I put on the method of delivery has dissolved away. Childbirth is still a miracle, no matter how it happens. ♥️

At 36 weeks we found out baby was breech.
My midwife suggested chiropractic adjustment, Spinning Babies, & External Cephalic Version (a procedure where they attempt to manually turn the baby.) I have done all of these & still at 38 weeks, baby remains frank breech. The little stinker seems happy & comfortable sitting in his little bucket seat (aka my pelvis 🤪.)

I am still doing inversions daily & wanted to share my circuit. These positions can create more space in the pelvis for baby to move, & use gravity to encourage baby to turn head-down. Sometimes babies won’t turn no matter what you do. I’m all about being proactive & taking action where I can, but also surrendering what I cannot control.

While time is running out, I am not losing hope he will turn, but I’m also staying open to whatever happens. I am trusting God’s plan above my own.

If you’ve had a term breech baby, I would love to hear about your experience. Listening to other mom’s stories has been really helpful as I navigate this unexpected challenge.

I’m so thankful to still be feeling good well into my third trimester. There are days I am totally exhausted & moody, & some where my low back feels so out of whack, but overall my body & mind feel strong & healthy.

Physically- I have continued weight training throughout my pregnancy (I’ve just dialed down the intensity.) I’ve prioritized prenatal yoga & daily walks. I’ve also seen a prenatal chiropractor, pelvic floor therapist, & lactation consultant.

To mentally/emotionally/spiritually prepare for labor & delivery I’ve journaled, prayed, meditated on scripture, attended a childbirth class with my husband, read a couple books (“Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth” by Ina May Gaskin, & “Supernatural Birth” by Jackie Mize), binged podcast, & started listening to Hypnobirthing audio tracks.

I feel like all these tools have helped my body & mind stay in a positive place during pregnancy. I know there are SO many variables with childbirth & all the prep work in the world doesn’t guarantee anything, but it’s empowering to be proactive. And in the end, I know I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. ♥️

I so enjoyed being a guest on Plot Twist Podcast! The host Miranda is a former TV journalist like myself, & uses this podcast to share stories of big life changes- how to cope with them, & what we can learn from them.

In the time span of one year, I got married, left my 10-year-career in TV broadcasting, moved states, had a liver tumor diagnosis & surgery, became a yoga teacher, went through fertility treatments, & was blessed with a miracle pregnancy.

I talk about my journey, the ups & downs, & the valuable lessons I’m learning along the way. ❤️

Episode 8 comes out tomorrow 11/12 at 1 am MTN!

This is a quote from my guest Britt Ealey Yoga

Brittany talks about leaving her dream career as a lifestyle TV host for another dream getting married and building a family. Her journey to becoming a mom hasn't been easy. She talks about going through the hardest year of her life, including failed infertility treatments and being diagnosed with a softball size liver tumor.
