Preston Kindred - 300m hurdles
Preston was the only freshman from West making the trip to state and the only freshman at state competing in any hurdle event. He ran a 39.31 in prelims to move on to finals as the 10 seed. He finished 9th overall with a 40.88. Preston's PR was earlier this year at 39.23.
Mason Fula, Josh Ziebell, Ammonra Lomas, Nolan Schmidbauer - 4x100m relay
This group blazed their way into the school record books with their prelim race in 42.30s giving them the 10 seed. They finished 9th overall and will bring back the entire team for next year's run.
Mason Standarski, Blake Frea, Levi Bratt, Gabe Ubert - 4x400m relay
After setting their PR in the prelims at 3:21.38, they earned the 4 seed going into the final race of the meet. They held this position and finished 4th overall to cap their successful season. Their final PR puts them second all time in the Waukesha West record book.
Cole Zielinski - Long Jump and Triple Jump
Cole set the PR and school record in his second jump of the meeting and never looked back. He finishes as the State Long Jump champion with a jump of 24'5". He competed the next day in Triple Jump and claimed his newest PR there with a jump of 45' 0.25" to claim 10th place and second overall in the West record books.
Angel Escamilla - Long Jump
Angel finished his stellar career at West with a PR and 4th place finish in Long Jump with a distance of 23' 2". This places him 3rd all time in the West record book along side his school record Triple Jump of 46' 1.75".
Chetan Malkan - Discus
Chetan threw for 146' 11" in his final meet on his way to a 15th place finish in a heavily contested field. However, 12 of the 14 throwers ahead of him were all seniors, which makes Chetan's next season something to watch out for.
Congratulations to all our track stars whether they made it to state or not. The number of PRs and school records set this year was unprecedented, and we thank our inspirational coach staff for pushing these kids to their best!
Until next year...
