When Nazik first came to us, she was dealing with significant knee pain and was worried about what the future would look like.
Through proper strength training, individualized programming, and consistency, she gradually rebuilt her strength, improved her confidence, and returned to doing the things she loves without the limitations that once held her back.

One of the biggest myths we hear is that an injury automatically means you have to stop exercising. In reality, most non-surgical injuries don’t require complete inactivity, they require smart modifications. If your knee hurts, there are still countless ways to train your upper body, core, balance, and overall fitness. If your shoulder is injured, there are often safe lower-body exercises you can continue doing. Exercise is not all-or-nothing.

At The Foothills Gym, we work closely with physical therapists and use evidence-based strength training to complement, not compete with, the rehabilitation process. Our goal is to help you stay active, maintain your strength, and continue progressing safely while your body heals.

Nazik’s story is a reminder that setbacks don’t have to become stop signs. With the right guidance, patience, and program, an injury can simply be a detour, not the end of your fitness journey.

Progressive overload is not about destroying your body every workout or constantly lifting heavier weights.

It’s about giving your muscles the right challenge over time so your body can adapt, get stronger, and move better.

Smart strength training is a system built on proper programming, patience, recovery, and consistency, not ego lifting or random workouts.

That’s how real long-term results happen.

Fitness after 40, especially for women, is not just about combining random exercises.

It is about understanding the physiological changes that occur in the human body throughout each decade of life.

In your 20s, 30s, and 40s, your hormones, recovery ability, muscle mass, connective tissue, bone density, and even muscle fiber composition begin to change.

Unfortunately, the fitness industry often hides behind the phrase “age is just a number,” but physiologically, age absolutely matters. You can feel young, energetic, and motivated, but your body still requires a smarter, more evidence-based approach to training.

It is heartbreaking to see people being pushed into poorly performed burpees, reckless high-intensity workouts, and social media-inspired exercises with terrible form, all while being told that weight loss is the ultimate goal.

True fitness after 40 is not about punishing your body to become smaller. It is about becoming stronger, more capable, more resilient, and more confident in everyday life.

It is about having the strength and energy to play with your kids, wrestle with your grandkids, run around them, carry your dog, stay alert and independent, enjoy life without guilt, and move through the world with confidence.

Somewhere along the way, many gyms and trainers stopped being coaches and started becoming entertainers, chasing views instead of results, trends instead of education, and sweat instead of evidence.

Real coaching requires continuous education, understanding how to read and apply evidence-based practices, teaching people to understand calorie deficit, and helping them to enjoy that glass of wine and eat that tiramisu without feeling bad.

And the ability to explain exercise and health concepts in a way that both a 5-year-old and a 75-year-old can understand and safely perform. Fitness after 40 deserves more than hype; it deserves knowledge, purpose, responsibility, and care.

If you're ready to experience the sustainable result of fitness, I suggest you start with our six-week trial. DM me or click the link in our bio to book your meet-and-greet.

Most women think osteoporosis is something to worry about later… like in their 60s or 70s.

That’s a mistake.

Bone loss starts much earlier—especially during perimenopause and menopause.
After 50, women can lose up to 2% of bone density per year due to the drop in estrogen.

Let that sink in.

This isn’t just about “weak bones.”
This is about:
• Losing strength
• Losing independence
• Increased risk of falls
• And yes… hip fractures that can completely change your life

And here’s the part most people ignore 👇

You might already be at risk if:
• You’ve had a fracture before
• You don’t strength train
• You’ve dieted heavily or under-eaten over the years
• You sit most of the day
• You drink regularly or smoke
• You have thyroid or gut health issues
• Or it runs in your family

The problem?
You won’t feel your bones getting weaker.

No pain. No warning.

That’s why guessing doesn’t work.

👉 You need data.

A DEXA scan is one of the simplest ways to understand your bone density, muscle mass, and overall health.

And waiting for insurance to approve it at 65?
That’s already late in the game.

Now here’s the truth most people won’t say…

Some gyms may talk about this.
But they don’t have the academic background, clinical understanding, or real-world experience working with women over 40 to actually guide you safely and effectively.

That’s the difference.

At The Foothills Gym, we specialize in fitness after 40—
with an evidence-based approach focused on strength, bone density, and long-term health.

If you’re serious about your future…

Test. Don’t guess.

Because you can’t change what you don’t track.

My humble opinion after 367,920 hours of life.

1. Build trust. Always.
2. Accentuate the positive.
3. When mistakes happen, redirect the energy, don’t dwell on it.
4. Strength and endurance training are non-negotiable after 40.
5. Porsche 911 is the best car in the world.
6. True strength is humility, in finances, fitness, mindset, and relationships.
7. Constantly showing off (money, body, lifestyle) often reflects unhealed insecurity.
8. Social media reveals mindset quickly, pay attention and choose your circle wisely.
9. Never burn bridges that feel like family, the damage always comes back to you.
10. Forgive fast. Apologize when needed. Move on—nothing is guaranteed tomorrow.
11. Excess of anything leads to dysfunction.
12. Just because someone has a platform doesn’t mean they’re right—do your own homework.
13. If you’re unhappy: communicate → try to fix → if not, leave.
14. Not every argument deserves your energy. Use: “interesting,” “good for you,” 👍🏻, and move on.
15. After family, your health is your top priority. If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of them.
16. Doing what’s right isn’t pride, it’s honor.
17. Science and evidence may not look sexy, but they deliver lasting results.
18. Never ask a liar why they lied, they’ll just lie again.
19. When ignorance and knowledge are treated equally, noise wins over truth. The loudest voices dominate, not the wisest.
20. Many people choose illusion over reality because reality is heavy.
21. The most dangerous ignorance is the one that thinks it’s wisdom.
22. Don’t forget: fools get older too.
23. Credibility comes from risk, not performance. When someone speaks up, and it costs them something, pay attention.
24. Time is not your friend, use it wisely.
25. Let kids be kids. Keep them away from adult agendas until they’re ready.
26. Be rare. Be the one who genuinely wants others to win.
27. Turn knowledge into wisdom:
1. Knowledge = facts
2. Wisdom = knowing how and when to apply them.

Most people don’t get injured because they’re weak; they get injured because they’re following the wrong program.

After 40, your body still has incredible potential, but it needs the right approach. It’s not just about pushing harder or lifting heavier; it’s about training smarter, with structure, progression, and purpose.

At The Foothills Gym, we focus on building strength the right way, so you can stay pain-free, move better, and keep progressing long-term. If you’re tired of guessing and ready to see real, sustainable results, finally, this is your moment to reset and do it the right way.

Everyone talks about body recomposition, losing fat and building muscle at the same time. But most people misunderstand how it actually works.

Yes, it’s possible, but only when three key variables are dialed in correctly. First is your training: muscle is built through mechanical tension and progressive overload, not random workouts, Pilates or light classes. You need a structured program, lifting with intent, getting close to failure, and consistently getting stronger over time, because without progression, there is no adaptation.

Second is your nutrition, especially calories: sitting at maintenance sounds safe, but physiologically it doesn’t create a strong enough signal for fat loss or muscle gain.

Recomposition requires a more strategic approach, slight deficits or cycling intake, paired with adequate protein to support muscle repair and growth. This is exactly where most people get stuck.

At The Foothills Gym, we don’t guess, we program. Every client follows a structured, evidence-based system tailored for individuals over 40, combining strength progression, intelligent nutrition, and accountability. That’s the difference between just working out… and actually transforming your body.

After 40, bone density naturally begins to decline. For many people, this eventually leads to osteopenia or osteoporosis.

The good news is that research and evidence consistently show one of the most effective ways to slow this process, and in many cases improve bone health, is proper strength training.

But not all workouts are the same. Bone responds to progressive resistance, proper loading, balance work, and structured strength programs. When done correctly, strength training can help improve bone density, muscle mass, stability, and overall resilience as we age.

This is exactly why training in the right environment matters. Programs for people over 40 require a different level of understanding, coaching, and progression. And we are the only gym in the area that has that.

At The Foothills Gym, our entire program is designed specifically for adults over 40. We specialize in helping people build strength safely, improve bone health, and stay active for the long term. In fact, we are the only gym in the area dedicated specifically to fitness after 40.

If you’re over 40 and want to protect your bones, build strength, and feel confident in your body again, the right training program can make all the difference.

If you’re a woman over 40 and your body feels different, more tired, more stubborn, more confusing, you’re not broken. You’re going through real physiological changes that most of the fitness industry never explains.

In this workshop, I’m sharing the same evidence-based material I teach in my college classes and use in my own research, breaking down what actually changes in your hormones, brain, muscle, and metabolism after 40, and how to train in a way that supports strength, energy, and long-term health.

You’ll also hear from Dr. Armen, chiropractor, who will cover practical mobility and flexibility strategies to help you move better, reduce pain, and support your training long-term.

This isn’t a workout class, and it’s not another quick fix. It’s education, practical application, and tools you can actually use. If you want to understand your body and train with confidence again, this workshop is for you.
