Our "Purple Power" Against Cancer fundraiser was held on Thursday, July 17, 2025 and was a great success again this year, despite the weather in the days prior and the "damp" course! We raised $2,000 which is being donated to Baraga County Home Care and Hospice for the care of local cancer patients. We had 50 women golfing that night with 4 others who signed up and were unable to be there, but still paid their entry fee to go towards the cause. The scramble was won by the team of Angie Dickson (who also won the 50/50 prize drawing!), Brigette LaPointe, Mariah Dunham and Kinsei Jahfetson with a score of 24 on the 7 holes played. The gimmick winners were as follows: Longest drive on #2 - Pam Dove; Closest to the Pin on #3 - Jen Davidson; Shortest Drive on #7 - Geneva Brennan; and Longest Putt on #9 - April Thor. Jeanne Artley won the door prize - a purple golf bag! There are so many people we appreciate and want to thank! To all the businesses and individuals who donated baskets or made monetary donations (see separate post thank you for list) and to everyone who brought salads and desserts and who helped with setting up, cleaning up and helping in any way - THANK YOU! We couldn't do this event without you. And also, a special thank you to the L'Anse Golf Club for letting us take over the golf course that night and for donating the use of the golf carts for this worthy cause! You are all so very appreciated!

I am sure you are all wondering if the Purple Power Against Cancer golf event for tomorrow, 7/17 is still on. IT IS!! The rain is forecasted to stop before sunrise tomorrow with sunshine all day Thursday, and 0% chance of rain. There are many participants who have signed up, but not net paid your entry fee of $25. Please show up to golf so we can still have a great fundraiser to benefit cancer patients in our area. We are unable to postpone as there is no other Thursday available due to league nights. This date was planned prior to golf league starting. We already have food purchased and prepared, a great door prize, lots of wonderful raffle baskets and goodies purchased for giveaways and we sincerely hope you will all show up and support the cause. Yes, the course will probably still be wet, but we won't be golfing holes 4 and 5 which are the wettest ones on the course. We will only be golfing 7 holes, skipping 4 and 5. Even if you decide not to go out on the course, please come and enjoy a fun time with great food, prizes and raffles. The success of this worthwhile fundraiser depends on YOU! We are counting on your support to help us pull this off, even if the weather doesn't cooperate. Please let us see your beautiful faces tomorrow!! :)
