If you’re reading this, please take me off this page as an administrator. I told you I would never give up and I will always love you.
God, Faith, Truth, Honesty, Trust, Respect, Discipline, has taught me to forgive.
Do you miss me? Did you ever truly care about me? Did you love me? Did I ever really matter to you?
The hardest part is knowing that I loved you, and somehow, a part of me still does. Yet you walked away. No more “good morning” or “how have you been?” It’s strange how I still catch myself picking up my phone, hoping to see your name.
I’ve hidden all the pictures. You’re no longer pinned at the top of my messages. I don’t search for your name on Facebook anymore, and I don’t drive past your house, even though I know you’re no longer there. The stuffed turtle with your voice recorded on it sits hidden away in a box with everything else you gave me.
What I can’t understand is why you spent years trying to decide if I was someone you wanted to be with. You told me that you loved me and that you always would. But for four years, there was pain, broken promises, and hope that was given and taken away time and time again.
You promised you would never leave. You promised you would always love me. You promised me that I had nothing to worry about.
And yet, here I am.
I don’t hear your voice anymore. I catch myself looking for you in crowded places, even though I know you’re not there. This time feels different. Deep down, I know you’re not coming back. I know you’re finally gone.
Even after everything, I still pray for you. I pray that life gives you everything you deserve, and I hope that one day you’re able to truly love someone without hiding behind lies and that you’ll be able to keep the promises you make.
As for me, I’m learning to let go of the person I thought would never leave.
