Unfortunately, when Seger had his accident, it wasnt just his long awaited Micro sprint racing debut , that took a hit !
Opening day at U.S. 24 , was also the first gameday for his baseball team !
One of the first things he asked the doctors, during treatment was, when can I get back to doing the things I had planned, not just racing! Will I be healed before the end of baseball season, and mom, can you find out when football season starts?
While football season is still well off into the summer months , and he will be healed up in time to participate fully in that, HE decided he still wanted to be a team player and go to all of his baseball games that he could, in uniform , and help support his teammates in the dugout as much as possible!
Even though the timeline didnt look near as promising that he would be healed up in time to swing a bat this spring season, he decided as a young man that he still wanted to go and be a part of it, as much as possible.
That meant alot to us, his parents , as we have always tried to instill good values in him and his sister , involving them in team sports from an early age, to show them camaraderie, sportsmanship, and a team atmosphere, no matter the activity.
Whether theyr'e helping other kids at school in some way, or sports, or on the track, Seger has always realized hes not the only car on the track, the only person on the field, and to compete/race with others
,the way he wants to be raced!
Though you cant make choices for them once theyre in the car, in the batters box , or on the field, you can guide them as to whats right and wrong, and to appreciate every opportunity earned, won , or lost , and learn from every experience good and bad, and be a better human for it in the end!
These journeys the kids are on will help shape them on their way, growing up , to do whatever they choose in life, no matter if its a dirt track....baseball field, basketball court, or football field.
While racing tends to be an individual sport behind the wheel, it is a team sport also!
Being a good human is way more important to us, than any win or accolades along the way.
Racing is an extremely expensive sport, and while we arent wealthy monetarily, the value we hold in Segers moral compass as parents, is important to us, and we feel confident he will appreciate the opportunities he EARNS along the way , in all the activities he chooses to participate in!
Seger realizes hes not the only one on the field, and that if he tears his equipment up, or someone elses, due to his own carelessness it may be a bit before he can get back to doing whichever
Activity or sport he chooses.
The result of knowing that , tends to lead to respect for his competitors, and their equipment, and teams as well.
That CLEARLY cant be bought, but has to be taught. While spectating lately, its became even more clear that not everyone lives by that !
It costs $0 to play, or race fairly, and not everything in life can just be bought!
With that being said, Seger will keep healing up and we hope to be out and about in a few weeks time, doctors willing, ready to sling some dirt!
Thank you to all of Seger's sponsor's and Supporters!
