Taking Sportsmanship to higher levels! Bomber pride! 💙

Sophia Torke, Addie Tershner, Sam Sewacki, and AJ Justinger all traveled to Stevens Point today to attend a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA)Sportsmanship summit! The students leaders attended meetings, listened to speakers, and created an action plan to help improve sportsmanship! The students are excited to share what they learn with other students.

The USTA (United States Tennis Association) JTT (Junior Team Tennis) program in Northeast Wisconsin has jumped on board with honoring good sportsmanship. Last night, multiple teams across the region honored players from opposing teams. Pictured here, Claire, from Kohler, presents opponent Karsen, from Sheboygan Falls, with a sportsmanship pin. Karsen was a stand-out not only towards his opponents, but a natural leader on his team. Congrats to all the players that were honored this weekend!

Are you curious how we go about presenting the Sportsmanship award? It's easy and quick! We line up both teams, give a brief description of what is happening. We prefer to have one of the team captain's or players present the pin. It helps garner confidence and ownership of the deed. The player presents the pin to the chosen recipient and everyone usually celebrates quickly. If you can snap a quick picture, that's a bonus, but not necessary. It doesn't take much effort or time to brighten someones day or recognize good sportsmanship. We are starting small and hoping to watch this program grow & grow!

8th grade girl's basketball is going strong and so is the continued pin presentation program. Last weekend, the Kohler 8th grade girl's basketball team chose Cedar Grove's Analeigh as the recipient of the sportsmanship award. She showed amazing sportsmanship on and off the court and wore her well-deserved pin with pride! Congrats!

The Lakeshore Basketball League, a girl's basketball league in the Sheboygan County area, has decided to participate in the Sportsmanship program. The 8th grade girls played their first two games of the season this past Saturday. The first game against North and the second against Lutheran. The girls voted to honor Rylee from North with the first pin of the season. Unaware of what was occurring, the surprise brought on lots of cheers from both teams. After the Lutheran game, the Kohler girl's unanimously agreed that the pin should go to Evelyn. Evelyn has always been one to show sportsmanship on and off the court and we couldn't be prouder! Congrats to you both!
