As we lean into October, I’m reflecting back on an unforgettable August. What a great time we had hunting Kodiak Island, Alaska, for mountain goats and Sitka black-tailed deer. You just can’t beat the mild weather and long daylight hours of late summer in the backcountry.

We are kicking off the early season on Kodiak Island with this absolute monarch of the crags! Hunting mature mountain goats in this terrain takes grit, but pulling a heavy, thick-based billy off these mist-shrouded peaks makes every single vertical foot worth it.
