The shoulder is designed for mobility, but too much mobility can lead to feelings of “shifting” or “slipping”, often accompanied by pain. The shoulder relies heavily on the rotator cuff and scapular muscles for control during bars and tumbling. The goal isn’t to make the shoulder “tighter”, but to build strength and control through the ranges they already have. If you have pain in the front of your hip, and your first instinct is to stretch, you’re not alone! It’s important to make sure that you’re giving your body what it needs to heal! That’s why I love using these 3 tests to rule in anterior hip instability, which is very common among artistic athletes!
