It all started for us in 2017 on the final day of the 2016-17 season. A group of 4 of us met at Hops N Hollers for one last match to see Manchester City gain Champions League qualification (something we’ve done in every single season under Guardiola).
Since then, so many things have changed. We’ve went from Alliance Brewing Company, to Bearden Beer Market, to Xul Beer Co, and now to SouthSide Garage. There’s been trips to visit other supporters clubs; In Atlanta, Cincinnati, and New York, to name a few. There’s been 7am watch parties, virtual watch parties on Zoom, and Champions League finals and block parties where people came in droves.
There’s been expeditions to see City live, whether that be friendlies or the Club World Cup in the States, or a venture to Manchester to see our team play at the Etihad. There’s been so so much winning (and no, we have never been bored of it). We’ve seen City lift the lot, whether it be a record 100 point season, a domestic quadruple, the treble, and of course, four league titles in a row.
There have been so many days of stress, whether it be our annual matches with Real Madrid, title run ins with Liverpool and Arsenal, and some unexpected final day drama vs Aston Villa. These days led to unbridled jubilation more often than not.
So many things have changed over the past decade, but the one thing that remained the same, was Pep Guardiola was at the helm. While we’d appreciate all the winning, the mentality that Pep brings, and no compromise on his style of play. Those reasons, aren’t why we love you. It’s the connection you’ve built with the fans, the city, the club. This is your city, your club.
So thank you Pep, for making even our wildest dreams come true. We’ve seen things they’ll never see… and it has been SO F*CKING FUN!
