Chase Collins RHPGreat Frame, projectable, quick arm, comes out easy with good strong velo. Velo will continue to climb, has the attributes of a flame thrower with long, quick arm, explosive lower half with massive hands and long fingers. Has real good feel for the ball, locates very well, (I would agree to say he has command of all his pitches). He’s not a thrower, HE PITCHES!!! Class of 27, will end up with plus velo as he continues to get stronger. High Baseball/ Pitching IQ. Strong work ethic and very motivated to get to the next level.

Tyler Kiely
Grace Christian Academy

Before: uncontrolled leg kick, crash forward, hands burry behind the body at launch. These positions forced him to work up out of the ground and across the body.

After: simplified gather, stride to balance and land in the proper hitting position, hands had space to work with (not burred behind ), allowed himself to get inside the baseball and stay thru it consistently

Mason Shelton Farragut High School Stetson University Commit Working on staying behind the ball. He had the tendency to crash forward during stride phase giving him no room and freedom to deliver the barrel with proper direction. He would work across his body and yank to the pull side slicing balls or rolling over the top of the ball. We had him put the tee up and in and use the slant board. The goal was to hit a line drive back thru the middle. Because of the tee placement (up and in) Mason was forced to maintain space between him and the baseball as he rotated behind the ball. The slant board reinforced him to hit against a firm frontside as he transferred his weight properly thru the ball at the “Right Time”. This is important because you do want to transfer your upper body early crashing forward. Eyes will move aggressively forward and you will not read the ball (speed, shape, location) properly. The goal is to buy yourself time especially the higher level you go. You can crash and hit off the tee or flip and PR on your EV. But you won’t hit. You have to buy yourself time to recognize. Not only that but your body will work in the right sequence and efficiently deliver the barrel with bat speed and direction improving contact and consistency. Control your forward move. “Stay back while moving forward” is a cue i like to say. You’re not just doing because you’re stuck back and you’re not just diving at the ball. Keep your eyes as quiet as possible when hitting. Mason Shelton then went back to the school to hit and was able to feel the freedom to drive the ball to all parts of the field with easy power and freedom thru his swing.

Hands carry forward as you stride forward? This can cause a pushy type swing and can force your swing in and out of the zone.

Get to the proper Launch Position. Allow yourself to feel the separation that your body is asking for. Get to the proper launch and hold for a split sec and put your focus on your stretch and then fire. Once you understand the position your body has to get to put it all together in one motion.

Getting to the proper stretch will allow you to increase bat speed, improve distance in zone + direction.
