His initial rise to the PGA TOUR was meteoric, but this time Doc Redman proved his toughness to battle back to the game’s highest level. Perhaps the best is yet to come 🚀
Redman won the 2017 U.S. Amateur at Riviera, defeating Doug Ghim on the 37th hole of the 36-hole final. He earned his TOUR membership with a runner-up finish at the 2019 Rocket Classic as a Monday qualifier, bypassing the Korn Ferry Tour from the jump.
Redman kept his TOUR card for four seasons but lost it with a No. 157 finish on the 2023 FedExCup Fall. He narrowly missed his TOUR return after a runner-up finish at the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Championship, and he took a three-month mental health break in 2025 to decide whether professional golf was still a worthy pursuit.
"I just wasn't happy playing golf. I think the tough thing about golf is, especially out here, everyone's so good and if you're not enjoying it, you're not going to get the best out of your game," Redman said of his competitive hiatus.
"Then there's almost no reason to be out here just kind of spinning your wheels. And we had just had my son and I think I was just struggling with all the sacrifice there was in being away. So I needed kind of a reset to figure out why I was out here and re-find kind of the love for it. So eventually I realized that, but it took a while."
Redman has won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour this season, at the Astara Golf Championship and Visit Knoxville Open. He leads the Korn Ferry Tour Points List with six events remaining. On Wednesday, he was the first player to be declared TOURBound for 2027.
