After an unexpected delay to start off our 2022 race season, we were finally able to take the micro out and make some laps at The Bullring @ Big O Speedway Sunday night. This was Tyler’s first time in a micro (other than a couple of laps in Carson Bolden Racing’s car last summer) so we were all extremely nervous. Our goal for the night was to make sure the motor ran good as well as shake the car down to find any loose ends we need to tie up. For hot laps, they let Tyler hot lap by himself and he made several smooth laps getting the feel of the car. For the heat, he started on the rear and a couple of laps in he grazed the front straightaway wall with the right front and did it again a couple of laps later. When he came in, he said he couldn’t turn left and we found that the power steering had stopped working at some point in the heat race. We didn’t have what we needed to fix it so for the feature he was only able to make a couple of laps before he was tired and pulled in. Overall, we accomplished our goal for the night. In Tyler’s words, “I had a blast, when do we go to Oklahoma to race for real”. The micro’s have Speedweek coming up so we’ll take the next two weeks to tie up our loose ends on the car and get ready for I-44 or Port City.

We also took one of the midgets for Caden McCreary to hot lap. The intentions were to have already raced a couple of midget shows with Caden but unfortunately we just hadn’t been able to start our 2022 season until now. Caden looked extremely comfortable and we have no doubts he’s ready to race the midget. We intend to take Caden to Oklahoma on July 9 for a midget race. We’ll keep everyone updated on the schedule now that we’re up and running again.

As always, thank you to our wonderful sponsors who allow us to chase our dreams and enjoy our hobbies.

We’re trying to gauge interest on some hats in addition to the shirts. Obviously, the look and style of the hat plays an important role in whether or not people are interested. Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated!

High Performance Lubricants is not your typical oil company. We pride ourselves on producing the highest quality products to protect your fleet’s vehicles or plant’s rotating equipment. Many oil companies choose to add a lot of fluff to their marketing campaign rather than focusing on producing a better product.
When making a lubricant it’s all about choices. Although there are only a few base oil suppliers and only slightly more additive suppliers to choose from there are various quality levels of products available. High Performance Lubricants chooses the best base oils combined with the highest quality additives for our products. The end result is a significant improvement in our oils life and wear reduction compared to others. These differences can easily be verified by oil analysis.
High Performance Lubricants has invested heavily in a state-of-the-art facility, which allows for product development and topnotch quality assurance from conception to completion. Our stringent quality control of each raw material and each batch our plant produces ensures accurate, consistent and high performing lubricants.
Bigger is not always better. The larger a company becomes, the more tempting it is to shave cost off your formulation to increase the bottom line. Unfortunately, while this thought process is beneficial to the oil company, it is not so beneficial to you the customer.
Our love for racing and anything else with wheels allows us to enjoy our R&D. In reality the products that end up in our automotive line for the street or fleets are very similar to the oils that run on the track. We do not make light duty products.
We are quite happy being a smaller, focused, and responsive company. You will never hear “press 2 for English” when you call us. We are blessed to have the industry’s most talented people as a resource to help troubleshoot your applications and improve your bottom line using our lubricants.

Fun Fact: Tyler’s number (72) is on its 5th generation of racers on his dad’s side of the family. It started back in the 60’s with his great great grandfather and grandmother (powder puff), his great great uncle Gene Ray, into the 80’s with his great uncle Charlie Brown, into the late 90’s with his dad Chris Tarrant and now him. The number 71 is also a common number on that side of the family, typically used when 2 of the family members are competing in the same class such as William Ray (71) and Gene Ray (72) and also with his dad (71) and Charlie Brown (72). On his mother’s side, he is a 3rd generation racer with grandfather Walter Beaty starting in the 70’s and uncle Wally Beaty starting in the mid 2000’s. To say he’s following in the “footsteps” is an understatement!
