Laramie Range Epic: One and Done recap! 🤠

* 33 miles
* 4,000’of climbing
* Five hours of racing between 8,000–9,000 feet of elevation—and a whole lot of heat.

With nearly 30 DNFs (most likely due to the heat), Kimberly is especially proud of this one. She started out a little aggressively given the size of the field, but eventually settled into a good rhythm and found a pace she could hold for the long haul.

Best news of all, she’s really happy with her day on the bike and proud of herself for digging deep and finishing strong. 💪

Rider 👏 Highlight 👏

Get to know Skye Beaty:

Bikes: Santa Cruz Blur, Trek Emonda, Specialized Crux

Riding/racing disciplines: Used to race crits and road races but now race gravel, cyclocross, and XC mountain bike.

How long have you ridden and raced? I started riding bikes as a commuter in college and got into road riding about 14 years ago. Rode across the country in 2015! My first race was a crit in 2017, 9 years ago, and my first cyclocross race was in 2018. 😍

Favorite ride snacks or piece of cycling gear: I love a good vest and a pb&j

Racing focus/goals for the year: Focus for the year has been to recover from injury, strengthen, and build back up to be able to do all the riding and racing I want. 💪

What do you do for work outside of riding? Elementary school speech-language pathologist

Other hobbies: I love to garden, cook, and go for slow walks with Benny 🙂(Benny is featured in photos 3, 5 & 9) 🐾

Laramie Mountain Bike Series Race 4 was a tough one for Kimberly. With 13 miles and 1,700 feet of climbing, the course was no joke—and unfortunately, the wheels came off the bus this time around.

She felt off from the start and, after about 20 minutes, just didn’t have the energy to push the pace. Maybe a little too much intensity over the past month finally caught up with her! Instead of forcing it, she shifted the goal to staying upright, riding smart, and getting to the finish.

Sometimes the win is just showing up, finishing, & learning from the race. 6th of 6 in the Advanced Women’s field.

Kimberly continues to show her strength on and off the bike! Way to go!!

She took 2nd in the series over all with the best 4 of 5 races. 💪

📣 Race Recap 📣
Laramie MTB series 3
Happy Jack Recreation Area
15 miles
1,800 elevation at 8500’

With pleasant temps in the low 60s at the start, it was puffy weather by the time awards rolled around in this Kimberly’s 3rd mountain bike race with Laramie Racing !

She was a little nervous heading into this one—the course was more technical, especially on the descents—but her hand held up well, and she was very pleased with how she rode despite all that climbing. 💪

She tackled the course and took 🥉 3rd of 6 — in the Advanced Women category.

Special shoutout to her daughter, Hazel, for capturing the day ! 📸

Say heyyyy to Shaunah! 🙌

She rides : Kona HeiHei Singlespeed: 34/22, Trek Checkpoint, Norco Optic

She races: Endurance XC and Gravel. Technical riding makes her heart happy. 😈

Her fave ride snacks: Albanese gummy bears or a classic coke, for the long hauls.

Must have gear: Glitter. Everything is better with glitter. Suffering in a race? At least you’re sparkly. Having a time of your life on this ride? Of course you are, you’re wearing glitter! Spending a Sunday with Little Bellas in the woods? Better bring the glitter! ✨

Shaunah shared her racing focus this season: “Have fun on the bike! Have already knocked out my favorite race of the year, The Appalachian Journey Gravel this spring with Missy Petty! Excited for my fall portion of the season! Then roll into some classic events I adore, like Hardford and Hill of Truth 12 hr. Looking forward to mixing in some new additions like the Mountaineer in VA. I always get excited for new to me routes/territory! Ladies, come join me! My goal of getting more ladies to the start line is a given every year! Let’s party!” 🎉

Put your hands up for our sponsor @ 71South. 🙌

71 South is a casual, family friendly restaurant located in the heart of the Urban Wilderness in Knoxville. Their building happens to be part of one of the oldest churches in Knoxville, dating back to the 1930s. Their backyard is Baker Creek Preserve, home to nationally recognized mountain biking trails—where you will find many Neons ripping about.

High fives all around for this team, who has supported us financially and recently spent time chatting wtih us about how to get . We could’t be more thrilled to rep their business on our jerseys. And we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them.

Thank you, 71 South!

What a night on the trails at IC King! The 11.24-mile XC mountain bike course packed nearly 1,000 feet of climbing and plenty of twists and turns, all served up in classic Tennessee summertime heat & humidity.

For Sharon, the evening was all about stepping outside her comfort zone. A self-described roadie and “champagne gravel” rider, she took on her first local XC mountain bike race after some encouragement from Trace. While the root sections were challenging, she found herself gaining confidence lap after lap and improving her skills as the race unfolded! More importantly, she discovered that trying something new can be a lot of fun. 💥

For Trace, this race marked a major milestone. Not only was it a return to competition, but she also crushed her previous practice-loop time by 15 minutes, proving that resilience, patience, and determination can pay off. The effort earned her 1st place in the Women’s Sport 40+ category. 🥇

A huge thank you to Knox Bike Racing for continuing to create opportunities for our cycling community to test our grit, build confidence, and enjoy our local trails together. 💙

📣 Introducing Rachel!!

As team treasurer, Rachel has contributed to so much behind the scenes at Neon. She rides and races a variety of bikes, including a Trek Emonda, Trek Checkpoint, Rocky Mountain Element, and a new Specialized Epic HT.

With a focus on gravel, cross-country mountain biking, and cyclocross, she enjoys racing across disciplines. You’ll catch her many days training on the Boulevard with the road bike.

She started riding mountain bikes in 2016 and entered her first race—the Dirt Diggler gravel race—in September 2021. 🙌

Some of Rachel’s favorite cycling essentials are her iconic classic cycling cap and Glacier Freeze Gatorade powder. 🧢

This season, she is focused on maintaining consistent strength training while balancing racing and training with family life.

Outside of cycling, Rachel enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, and one of the highlights lately has been reaching the stage where her whole family can ride together. She also enjoys volunteering with various community organizations.
