💟 This past weekend, many of our Team Quest athletes, alumni, and staff came together to support each other to accomplish some huge running goals!
🏃The Ozone Endurance Challenge went virtual this year and several of the team had already set their sights on 100 miles at the event. So they were quite bummed when it was announced it wouldn’t happen in person.
▶️ Many people attempt a 100 mile race (or a hundo as it’s known in the ultra running world) and despite all of the race support, they aren’t able to finish it for various reasons: muscle aches and pains, blisters, GI issues, or mental issues. So to try to tackle this completely unsupported makes the likelihood of success that much harder.
💟 So we decided to have a Team Quest get together for everyone to do their virtual race at the same time. They had planned to come to Tennessee originally anyway, so why not?! Seven signed up for the race and 6 others showed up at various times to support at the aid station or to share some miles with those in the race.
❓What did these awesome people accomplish together between Wednesday morning and Saturday afternoon?
5️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ total combined miles‼️- 453 in the race and 47 support miles!
4️⃣ amazing athletes earned 100 mile buckles!
🌟 Peggy Kindinger - 1st hundo!
🌟 Kathy Armstrong - 1st hundo!
🌟 Betsy Scholl - 1st hundo!
🌟 Wesley Griffin - 2nd hundo this year!
🟣 Stacy Bolyard logged over 16 miles, despite recently having Covid and not being at full capacity.
🟣 Teresa Williams logged another half marathon after just finishing the Rock N Roll Clearwater Half Marathon last weekend.
🟣 Michele Brackett logged just under 20 miles!
💜 An extra special thanks goes to Reinhard Hopperger for his incredible aid station support, Sherpa skills, and comedy to keep everyone taken care of and entertained for the duration! In addition to all of his support for everyone, he also logged the last 1.3 miles to support his lovely wife, Betsy, as she finished her first hundo and earn his first medal! It was the sweetest sight!
💫 Thanks to Matt, Phil, Lisa, Karen, and Sarah for coming out and supporting all these runners!
💜 This group of folks have been so awesome to hang out with the last several days! I just wish most of them weren’t out-of-state so we could do it more often!
