Today, we remember a day in our country’s history marked by bravery, loss, and incredible acts of kindness.

We remember how neighbors showed up for neighbors. How strangers showed up for strangers. How, even in grief, we found unity.

That spirit is alive every day at the Y.

When Kevin decided we needed a potluck to celebrate some September birthdays and offered to bring his delicious smoked chicken, we said, of course!

Because that’s what we do at the Y.

We show up. We celebrate. We build community.

Thank you to everyone who shared a meal around the table with us today, and everyone who builds community with us every day at our Y.

It’s time to introduce you to another one of our amazing staff members from Child Watch that make Cansler Y such a special place!

Jessica Henry has worked for us since last Fall and her family have been Y members for several years. She has a degree in early childhood development from Johnson University, and is mom to Payson and Willa who she homeschools, and both have taken part in our homeschool PE classes we offer.

Jessica loves the flexibility that the YMCA offers. Her favorite classes are yoga and Pilates. She has tried a variety of classes the Y offers, but those are her favorites.

We love having Jessica as part of our team. She really gives her all when she is here and the kids love Miss Jessica!

Reach & Rise is more than a mentoring program. It’s about giving kids someone who believes in them, listens without judgment, and helps them discover their own strength.

Sometimes, it’s as simple as creating moments of joy, friendship and belonging along the way.

Reach & Rise is free group mentoring for youth, made possible by caring, committed mentors who show up and believe in the kids they serve.

Women in the Weight Room is a small-group training program designed to help women feel confident using weights and navigating the gym. Learn how to safely and effectively use equipment while building strength, with coaching from women, for women.

Official race pictures will come from Personal Best Racing, but we are SO PROUD of all the kid triathletes who completed the Mighty Marlins Kids Tri this morning at our Cansler Y! We love seeing healthy habits starting early in life and are thrilled to host this event each August!
