This skill teaches swimmers how to respond when they go underwater unexpectedly—take a breath, stay calm, and get themselves back to a safe breathing position.

It may look like a simple game during swim lessons, but it’s actually building an incredibly important water-safety skill! 🙌

We believe every swimmer should learn more than just how to swim laps. We teach skills that can help them feel confident, capable, and safer around the water. 💙

The back float may look simple, but it takes confidence, relaxation, balance, and trust. We work on helping our swimmers learn to let their body float, keep their ears in the water, and stay calm and comfortable on their back.

At British Swim School, babies as young as 3 months can join our Tadpole program with a parent or guardian in the water. Lessons use songs, games and gentle movement to help little ones build comfort and confidence.
Swim lessons never replace close adult supervision.
