What is The Teams event at the Oregon State Co****le Championships of the 22/23 season It is a dynamic and inclusive competition that brings together players of different skill levels for an exciting and challenging experience. In this event, teams consist of seven individuals and are comprised of various skill levels and singles players. Let's delve into the details of this unique format.
To participate in the Teams event, only one person from each team needs to register and pay $180 from their ACL wallet. The remaining teammates will reimburse the team captain separately. Prior to the tournament start time, team captains must provide the director with the names of their teammates.
When it comes to skill level ratings, the ACL Home page provides the official guidelines. Players are categorized into advanced, competitive, intermediate, and Novice. Players can play up in skill level but cannot play down. Advanced players cannot compete in a competitive position, and competitive players cannot play in an intermediate position.
A team composition can vary, but the highest level a team can have is a maximum of three advanced players, two competitive players, and two intermediate players. There are other possible combinations and variations, which will be explained in further detail during the event.
The Teams event includes various games and matches. Here's a breakdown of the games and the eligible player skill levels for each:
Advanced Singles Game: Open to advanced, competitive, intermediate, or novice players.
Competitive Singles Game: Open to competitive, intermediate, or novice players.
Intermediate Singles Game: Open to intermediate or novice players.
Upper Doubles Game: Can feature advanced/advanced, advanced/competitive, advanced/intermediate, or any combination in between.
Lower Doubles Game: Must consist of at least one intermediate or novice player. Examples of team compositions include competitive/intermediate, intermediate/intermediate, competitive/novice, or any combination in between.
The bracket system for the Teams event involves two full teams of seven competing against each other. The match is played in a best 3 out of 5 format, where all players participate simultaneously in their respective games. The games include an upper game, lower game, advanced singles game, competitive singles game, and intermediate singles game. The team that achieves three or more wins out of the five games moves on to the next round.
Currently, the bracket format is single elimination, but the possibility of double elimination is under consideration, depending on the number of teams registered.
