ππͺ POWER POST WEDNESDAY!!! ππͺ
SET REALISTIC GOALS:
Aim for gradual progress rather than immediate records.
- Keep your goals realistic, specific, measurable, and within your skill level. Make progress, don't chase hype and fame.
- Keep in mind that everyone progresses at different speeds. You're physiology, gender, natural strength levels, and age all play a factor in your ability to progress faster or slower than others. Typically, newer lifters progress at a faster rate.
- Each training cycle gives you insight to your progression, and whether or not you are on track to meet your upcoming goals - be it for the next training cycle, year, or on the competition platform.
- Most lifters don't reach their goals or fail not because they are too big, but because they are trying to reach them too fast. A beginner may have a goal of hitting a 225 pound Bench Press - trying to do it in 3-6 months probably isn't going to happen. Give it 9 months to a year, and the goal is much more likely. Time and patience is key.
Take away... Build a good strength base, train within your capabilities, make sure you have mastered the basics of your lifts, set short-term goals first, keep your ego in check, and raise the bar after each successful goal completion.
