Greetings All. I have been pondering this deeply for some time. The last year plus have put tremendous strains on our resources. Costs of operating have gotten way beyond the ability to break even in the Yeti’s Lair climbing gym. More than a year without any income in the gym has made recovery impossible. My original venture, The Ledge outdoor store remains stable and is the only source of income for us.

This being said, I have decided to permanently close the climbing gym. We have invested 17 years of blood, sweat and tears into the gym. It holds many memories.

Components of the gym - holds, rental shoes, harnesses, belay devices, etc. are being sold off. The structure of the gym is not able to be sold.

Please remember, The Ledge is still operating daily and will continue, finishing 18 years and counting! So if you need gear for the outdoors- hiking, camping, climbing, kayaking, etc. we provide those items, so keep that shopping local.

Thank you for your patronage and memories. We’ve finished this ascent. Now on to the next peak.

Just an update - I wish that I could say something encouraging here regarding the Yeti’s Lair Climbing Gym. You are all aware of the ongoing and current state of business for gyms and the like.

It is sitting as a cold warehouse for watersports at this point. It’s future as a gym is simply in limbo. We cannot use it for small groups, private parties, etc. since liability and cost is too high at this point to make it worthwhile.

In the meantime, please help us in the following manners:
The Ledge, our bread and butter, is consistently open for your outdoor needs - climbing, camping, hiking, everyday gear (HydroFlasks, socks, etc). Please shop local and resist convenience to just buy online. A little extra effort to shop local will prevent the failure of local business, including both Lair and Ledge.

In the meantime, all punch cards purchased since March 2020 will be offered up for conversion into store credit at The Ledge, accommodating for use on cards up to that point.

Thank you all. We hope that all are well and prospering, not just surviving.

Mike.

Greetings to our climbers. We have been pondering what to do for the Yeti’s Lair given the current circumstances. Weighing the potential risks, we’ve decided to close the Yeti’s Lair Climbing Gym for climbing and events until we can ensure all risk has passed.

This decision is not light. The limitations of supplies and the intensity of cleaning has made it too daunting to maintain what we would deem a safe and healthy environment. It will cause a strain for our business, but we are prepared as well as can be for this. Ultimately, your safety is our greatest concern. We will re-open immediately as the threat passes.

Our store, The Ledge, will remain open through this all unless forced otherwise by unforeseen circumstances. We support activities to keep you in the outdoors, where fresh, moving air and sunlight can be helpful. The mountains and forests are calling.

Please keep us in mind for supplies to keep you outside in the meantime. Stay safe, healthy and happy.

Thank you.

Mike Angeli and Family.
