I appreciate Huntley Wright taking a couple of my hounds for me to the NE Ky 3 day this weekend. They were in the mix and both finished with very good scores but came up a little short. Thank you to Ethan Fuller for showing Powder. She was 5th AA Female in her first bench show. It was her first multi day day and she did great.

Loaded up most of my brood gyps and stud dogs and 2 puppies. Yes they are a little slower than they were, yes they are heavier than in their prime…but man it’s good to hear those old familiar barks…

Cutting numbers in 3 day hunts got me thinking. Some of the folks that responded don’t 3 day..so here’s a better way to look at it. If a hunt is 3-4 hours and your dog isn’t in the top 1/3 after the first hour, would you be ok if they stopped scoring your dog?

Why do multi day hunts advertise a possible cut each day? The entire purpose of a 3 day is it’s an endurance hunt?. Most good 3 day dogs get stronger each day. I don’t go to as many hunts as I use to, but a cut to me is a money grab. I’ve even seen some outside hunts with a cut. Please explain the logic to me about that??

Raising this many pups this year was NOT my intention. As some of you know I bred 3 last fall and that was going to be it. I usually keep 2-3 out of each litter and sell the rest. Folks that hunt with me know my gyps and when I breed them they are sometimes all spoke for before they are even born. The 3 we bred all decided to have them early and during the 12-16 degree week we had. I lost all of them except 2 pups. So this forced me to breed the others. Also I’ve decided since my work schedule doesn’t allow me to 3 day like I use to I’m going to be doing some puppy hunting and 1 days starting this fall. These julys are bred to compete in any style hunt. I don’t make crosses to sell pups. I make crosses I want to run and hunt. Just wanted to give Yall some insight.
