Happy Monday!

Do you know your purpose?

I struggled with this for years. I always heard about having a purpose and aligning said purpose with your work 🤨 (huh??)

I had heard it so much that I decided to figure out my own. It sounded so awesome to have a purpose. You could wake up and embark on a thrilling journey of purposefulness (is that a word?)

So, I bought books and even tapped into a life coach.

Here’s what we came up with: to help people to see themselves as more 🤷🏾‍♀️

OK...that sounded good....🤔

I still didn’t get it.

It took me YEARS to finally understand.

When I started my SERW membership, I wanted new resume writers to see themselves as more...

When I started my resume business...I wanted my clients to see themselves as more.

I want my 7 year old to see himself as more...my husband, my family...hell anybody in my space.

My purpose has been manifesting itself in my life for most of my adult years. In retrospect, I really didn’t need a book or a coach for that.

What I found is if you do what comes naturally, is of benefit to others and feels good inside - that’s the easy way to “figure out” your purpose.

Do you know your purpose?

Please stop 🛑 remixing your job descriptions and slapping them on your resume.
If you can copy and paste your info into someone else resume that does a similar job and it works, that means your resume is not about YOU!
Instead of telling recruiters and hiring managers what you’re responsible for, tell them what YOU have done to impact the bottom line.
Replace task-oriented phrases like:
“Responsible for building marketing campaigns to reach company goals”
with powerful value-based statements like:
“Generated $1.5M in new revenue by devising and launching compelling marketing campaigns”
Need help with this? DM me...

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT with Melanie Denny of Resume Evolution!
💼 GET CLEAR ON YOUR CAREER
It’s important to have a clear career target so you can align your experiences with the targeted role and focus your efforts on specific positions you want. .
💼 GET YOUR MIND RIGHT
You need to bring a positive, optimistic attitude to your job search. No one wants to hire Debbie Downer, Depressed Dan or Jaded Jan. Hiring managers feed off of your energy, so if you’re feeling stressed or defeated, you’ll need to deal with those emotions first. .
💼 KNOW YOUR VALUE
Determine how your past employers have benefited from your work. Have you saved them money, increased revenues or boosted productivity? These results-focused statements need to be sprinkled throughout your resume, cover letter and interviews. .
💼 UPDATE RESUME & LINKEDIN
The resume is an obvious one, but job seekers tend to neglect their LinkedIn profiles. 94% of recruiters use LinkedIn to search for candidates, so having a weak profile may cost you career opportunities. .
💼PLAN YOUR WORK & WORK YOUR PLAN
Don’t just apply "willy-nilly" whenever you think about it, or whenever a job opportunity appears. Job search on purpose; plan out your strategy, track your progress and continually refine until you reach your goal.

To those who are new to my feed, welcome!
I like to take some time every now and again to (re)introduce myself.
This time, I’m going to share 3 things that will give you a glimpse into my real life

1. I have a 7 year old son and a set of boy/girl twins that are 2 years old and driving me insane 🤪
2. I have dual citizenship here in the US and my beautiful island of Barbados and
3. I don’t like wearing shoes - I was reprimanded in corporate for going into my VP’s office barefoot LOL 🤷🏾‍♀️
BTW...this video was taken this past March in Dominican Republic celebrating my 3-year wedding anniversary.
Now its your turn to share something interesting about you in the comments below!

Your can command a higher salary.
Do you realize that before recruiters/hiring managers read a word of your resume, they have passed judgment on your level of professionalism just based on how it looks?
Without reading a word, your resume can either make you look entry level or expensive.
And once they start reading it, the content can do the same.
If you want to go after higher paying roles, you’ll need to set the tone from the start - with your resume.
I created a FREE infographic that outlines how to create a resume that commands a higher salary. .

Do you know the average time recruiters take to “read” your resume?

Does it showcase your value in an intentional, enticing way?
No?
Then, you probably need this training.
