Most “advanced” repetition methods are not really for advanced trainees.
Forced reps and other "advanced" techniques are often misunderstood and overused by HIT trainers, especially those who think more fatigue automatically means more stimulus.
In my most recent workout video, Daniel Thompson and I break down which methods are actually useful, when they are counterproductive, and why their proper use depends more on the instructor’s judgment than the trainee’s advancement.
The goal is not to push past failure.
The goal is to help the trainee inroad efficiently, reach true momentary muscle failure when appropriate, and avoid adding unnecessary recovery demand.
