Our Story

The founders of Devil Dog Concepts, if the name didn’t give it away, are former U.S. Marines. One, a Bomb Dog Handler, and the other, an Infantryman. Both are veterans of the Iraq War and after they got out of the Marines, they went on to become Police Officers. Currently, they are still active Law Enforcement, one a former Detective and current Patrol Sergeant, the other a department Training Officer who also is the Training Director for the New York Tactical Officer’s Association, and both have been on a multi-jurisdiction SWAT team together for over 10 years each.

The Hard Charger was created wondering how one could make the AR platform more user friendly in terms of gross motor skills, without having to rebuild or modify the rifle, or buy a new one, yet make it durable enough for Law Enforcement or Military operation. After quite a bit of design work and prototyping, the Side Charging Handle System design was finalized, patented, and a final product that exceeded our standards was completed put in to production. The original idea had been to just to make a couple for personal use, but as it worked out, one thing led to another, Devil Dog Concepts was formed and the Hard Charger; AR-15 Side Charging Handle System was the result.

After four years, the Hard Charger has evolved so much and we are ecstatic to be able to now offer 3 different mounting options, 5 different polycarbonate Pull Handles and 3 different Steel-Core Pull Handles, along with the M-TAK; Side Charging Handle Kit which allows for 15 different set ups of the Hard Charger system all in 1 kit.

Now, we are even more pleased to be able to offer yet another member of the Devil Dog Concepts’ product family, the CHARPS; our Combative Handgunning Pistol Sights. These sights are more amazing that we could have imagined, and as Law Enforcement Officers and SWAT team members, we find extreme value in them. These sights are specially designed for rapid, one handed charging of your handgun off nearly any object at nearly any angle. The rear sight of the CHARPS has a patented designed with dual serrated front ends and an angled center radius, which allows these sights to grip nearly anything, allowing for that extremely rapid one handed charging and massive reduction of fine motor skills. We found it truly amazing how incredibly they really work. To add even more to these sights, they are assembled in the USA with ultra-bright Swiss Tritium, designed with anti-glare straitlines, a press-fit dovetail and set screw, and are manufactured for Devil Dog Concepts by a leader in the handgun sight industry, TRUGLO.
