I couldn’t eat avocados until— I healed my gut 😟🥑⁣

In your healing journey, you’ll find that even some gut healthy foods may not respond well at first.⁣

Everyone’s body is so vastly different which is the beautiful thing about *bioindividuality*. There is no 🙅🏼‍♀️ one size fits all diet & should be treated as such especially when working with someone to help you heal your gut.⁣

Real talk though: There are some foods that should remain on your Do Not Eat List because they are inflammatory and you don’t want to cause dysfunction + symptoms in your body again.⁣

While I was healing, one of the foods I couldn’t eat was avocados. It was SAD, let me tell you!⁣

But they caused me a lot of bloating and discomfort and eating the avocado was just not worth it. So I stopped eating them for a bit until my gut started to heal and then I slowly started adding it back in.⁣

THAT was just one of the small healing wins for me and oh what a sweet victory it was to have a big ol’ bowl of fresh guacamole and chips! {If you know me, I LOVE a mean guac! 🤤 What’s not to love! 😉🙃}⁣

🚨 If something doesn’t FEEL right to you, chances are something IS NOT right! ⁣

Symptoms are an outward cry of an inward problem that needs to be addressed by digging into the root of what is causing your symptoms.⁣

Often I hear MANY stories from clients and women just like yourself who went to see a trusted professional like a doctor or even nutritionists just to have their symptoms swept right under the rug.⁣

As if it is all in your head… (exqueeze me! 🤨 I think my facial expression matches this realll well ⬅️ SWIPE to see! 😁)⁣

In all seriousness though— Sadly I hear this all too often from clients and it just further fuels my purpose to helping you find ~true~ healing.⁣

If something does not feel right and they are not listening to you...RUN 🏃‍♀️ and find someone who cares and will listen to you.⁣

I have been there too girl and it is NOT all in your head.⁣

Your body knows best. Your symptoms are there for a reason.⁣

When something is Dairy Free, Vegan, Gluten Free, Keto, Paleo, (you name it!), 🤔 What is it ACTUALLY being replaced with?⁣

I was thinking about this as I saw all the rave for the new Gluten Free Oreo (yikes!).⁣

But don’t be fooled! Companies are getting mighty fancy….more like sneaky, sneaky, sneaky 👀 with their packaging and labels flashing things like gluten free, dairy free, etc, etc to grab your attention.⁣

Because it’s healthy, right? Well, not so fast!☝🏻 That’s what they wantttt you to think..⁣

Something I ask myself and that I teach my clients to do is to ask:⁣
💭 WHAT are these ingredients being replaced with to make it this way?⁣

Just because something may seem ‘healthy’ doesn’t actually mean that it is. Point proven with these Oreos among MANY others! {Swipe for more examples}⁣

💡Oftentimes many harmful ingredients are replacing the original ones! Because it’s gotta be replaced with something.⁣

Of course this is *not always* the case, but it is true for many chemically filled processed foods out there.⁣

I encourage my clients to always, always, ALWAYS look at the back of the packaging and double check the ingredients making sure they are: ⁣

✅ Simple⁣
✅ Whole food ingredients⁣
✅ & Free of words that can’t even be pronounced!⁣

The best way to avoid this is sticking with foods that come from nature—⁣

As I call it —> Sticking to the Basics: Eating what roams or grows on the earth. 🥑🐄🐟🥦⁣

And i’m repeating because it’s so important👇⁣
Just because something can be made into another version DOESN’T mean it is actually healthy and can very well be causing more harm to your gut preventing you from healing. AKA more symptoms from foods feeding disease, rather than fighting disease.⁣

We have a 🤒 SICKcare system, not a HEALTHcare system.⁣

Unfortunately we have big problems in our “healthcare” system. Now, I just want to say I love doctors and we do need them, but there is a HUGE problem with our traditional system.⁣

We are taught from a young age to go to the doctor any time we have a simple cold, flu, headaches, anything really..⁣

So you go because that’s what you do right?🤷🏼‍♀️⁣
🤕 They spend very little time with you and don’t dive into the root problem⁣
🤕 Prescribe you X medication(s) for X symptom(s) and you are on your way⁣

💊This system has taught that we need to rely on medications to ‘fix’ us.⁣

But then find out that medication used to fix X symptom, *now* causes Y symptom! So you go back needing another medication for Y symptom and later causes Z symptom… & the 🔄 cycle continues..⁣

They have got us trained and trained realll good. It’s almost hard to think differently because this has been so ingrained in us.⁣

My point is👇⁣
Medications are NOT fixes. 🙅🏼‍♀️ They will NOT heal you.⁣
They are bandaids covering up the *real* issue that is going on underneath. And sadly if the path is continued, your body is like a ticking bomb 💣 for something much worse to happen down the road.⁣

As a result of this chronic bandaid approach, chronic health issues are on the rise (and discovering new ones everyday, EVERYDAY!)—⁣

Digestive issues, autoimmune disease, heart disease, arthritis, osteoporosis, alzheimer's, dementia, cancer (& more!)⁣

It’s not the medications that we need. Our body is crying out for help with symptoms so we get to the ROOT cause and FIX the problem.⁣

👉And it all begins with the very foods we put in our body. They give us energy, cell growth, healing, repairing, cell death (unhealthy/cancer causing cells).⁣

BUT they can also bring us closer to disease when it is not getting the right (high quality) nutrients it needs to keep itself healthy and fight off invaders.⁣

THIS is why we don’t have a healthcare system, but a sickcare system. What are your thoughts?⁣

Is your cup overflowing with stress? 🥴⁣

We are created to handle stress, to flee from a sabertooth tiger chasing us, hustling to reach a deadline at work giving us acute stress to get the job done.⁣

But where things go wayyy south is living in this state of constant chronic stressors hitting you in every direction.⁣

When sitting at work, inflammatory foods, uncomfortable digestive symptoms, watching TV, talking with someone on the phone, an alarming bill in the mail, you name it!⁣

The stressors are constant and coming in too hot. 🔥 Before you have the time to put the fire out, another one is lurking 👀 around the corner.⁣

So while our body was meant to flee from the saber tooth tiger, these fight or flight triggers are NOT meant to occur every day (or even every couple of hours!).⁣

And as the list continues to add up, your cup becomes so full it’s overflowing with stress and your body is no longer able to keep it together and handle it all—⁣

& Dysfunction sets in.⁣

You start to notice worsening symptoms or new symptoms like:⁣

• Digestive issues (constipation, painful/uncomfortable bloating, acid reflux, etc)⁣
• Fatigue + poor sleep quality⁣
• Hair loss⁣
• Blood sugar dysfunction (cravings, tired after meals, hangry, weight gain)⁣
• Hormone imbalances (bye bye s*x drive!)⁣
• Weakened immune system⁣
• & more! You can start to see how it impacts just about every area in the body!⁣

Sounds almost counterintuitive right?⁣

9 out of 10 people suffering from acid reflux is not caused by too much acid! 🙅🏼‍♀️⁣
👉 It’s actually caused by too LITTLE stomach acid! ⁣

Unfortunately, many doctors still believe the opposite is true and maybe even prescribed you harmful medications like PPIs that bandaid your symptoms (& causes them to worsen over time!) instead of getting to the root cause.⁣

We NEED our stomach acid for a healthy + happy gut!⁣

Stomach acid plays a critical role in digestion and breaking down our foods so our body can use the nutrients and get them where they need to go. Helping you to repair damage when needed and stay healthy!⁣

What you THINK you should be doing VS. What you actually NEED to be doing to heal your gut⁣

🙋🏼‍♀️ I know it is soo hard to figure out what you should be doing to ACTUALLY heal your body.⁣

I mean everywhere you look there are…. influencers, nutritionists, dieticians, other gut health coaches, and friends are yelling (not literally although some may!) about the best gut healing hacks, tips and tricks.⁣

It can be so gosh dang confusing and frustrating because ALL you want to do is finally take back control of your body and health and no longer struggle every day. Is that too much to ask!?🤷🏼‍♀️⁣

3 years into working as a gut health coach, I still shake my head at the things I see and hear on social media. They can be so misleadingly harmful to your gut and just make things much much worse.⁣

You can fire your doctor, dietician, nutritionist, or gut health coach. They work for YOU, 🙅🏼‍♀️ NOT the other way around.⁣

It is YOUR body, YOUR health journey, YOUR decision! So heck to the yes you can fire them!⁣

And you should if they are sweeping your symptoms under the rug and not listening to you. If you are not satisfied working together, you owe it to yourself to get the help that you deserve AND need!⁣

A client of mine was feeling stuck with this very same decision before she made the switch to working 1:1 with me. She felt obligated to continue working with her previous nutritionist, yet she was so unhappy because she wasn’t seeing any progress, frustrated that it took 2-3 months just to talk with her about a problem she was having at that moment (that is a LONG time when you need help!).⁣

So if you feel like you’re not getting the help you need, being listened to (and heard!), nor seeing results even when giving it your all—⁣

Can we get a p**p check? 💩 P**p tells all!⁣

It’s oftentimes uncomfortable for many to talk about.⁣
But your p**p says A LOT about your current gut health status!⁣

When your digestive system is working optimally, it breaks down your food into easily digestible bits for your body to absorb all it’s wonderful nutrients. And all the fibrous material from veggies and fruits cannot be fully digested in the Upper GI so it makes its way down into your colon.⁣

And this is where the ✨magic✨ begins in your gut!⁣
🔎 It magnifies how healthy your gut bacteria really are.⁣

Good gut bugs feast and break down the fibrous materials into absorbable nutrients for your body as well as fueling the growth of more healthy gut bugs, which keeps your digestive system as a whole healthy.⁣

It is the wonderful work of these healthy gut bugs that we produce nice smooth healthy logs that are excreted with ease! I mean who doesn’t feel amazing after a good poo? 🤷🏼‍♀️😁 Am I right or am I right?! haha 😂 ⁣

When we p**p—⁣
Our body is detoxing and releasing excess waste, toxins and hormones. We are moving *sh💩t* out! Literally! 😉⁣

If you aren’t p**ping at least 1x per day, you are constipated my friend.⁣

Digestion is a North 🧠 to South 💩 process! ⁣

Ever notice when you think about something super sour like biting into a slice of lemon 🍋, you start to pucker up && salivate!⁣ 🤤

Did I just get you to salivate right then? 😉 😂⁣

This reaction happens because your brain is sending signals to your mouth that you are about to consume something and it's preparing your body for digestion.⁣

💦 Your saliva contains key enzymes that begin the initial breakdown of starchy carbohydrates and some fats. Starch breakdown occurs -only- in the mouth!⁣

This is why it is SO important to chew thoroughly and be relaxed and present with your food so your body registers that it needs to get ready to start digesting. If you’re feeling stressed, distracted or anxious and shoveling in your food, your body won’t be able to properly breakdown and digest your food, leaving you feeling bloated and uncomfortable.⁣

The improperly broken down food, can then lead to complications further south in your digestive system.⁣

This just shows how dysfunction can occur at any level in your digestive system and this is just one example of what could start the dysfunction cascade.⁣

Because digestion as a north to south process.⁣

Not just individual pieces operating by themselves, but as a whole. If something south is going wrong like constipation, we gotta look north ⬆️ to see how the whole system is working and locate where the kinks are.⁣

Food is SO underrated, but it is one of THE MOST powerful healing tools there is! ✨⁣

It’s what gives your cells, tissues, organs and you life!⁣
To heal when necessary and keep your body healthy and strong.⁣

Ultimately, keeping you free from symptoms, dysfunction, and disease!⁣

Not sure you believe it?👇🏻⁣
Our ancestors around the world DID NOT have today’s diseases!⁣

With the increasing amounts of processed, chemical laden man-made crap 💩 they call “food” and pesticides, antibiotics, poor farming and agriculture practices— ⚠️ digestive issues, autoimmune disease, diabetes, heart disease and cancer is on the rise.⁣

Each day they are discovering new diseases. EACH DAY! And it is all linked back to our food.⁣

I think many are afraid or don’t think food could really be all that healing.⁣

My philosophy has always been to give something a try.☝🏻As long as it’s not harmless that is! 😁⁣

💭 Wouldn’t you rather try and give it your all than to not try at all?⁣
You could experience the most healing you have ever received than ANY medication. 💊⁣

‘Trusted’ doctors may have said:⁣

- You have X diagnosis⁣
- You’ll need to take X medication the rest of your life⁣
- There is nothing you can do⁣
- Or they don’t even know what’s going on and prescribe you meds anyways...⁣

Sadly some women {not all!} want to remain identifying with their diagnosis and that nothing can be done.⁣

My heart just breaks when I hear this! Truly, it breaks.⁣

I wish I could make them have a change of heart to just try something and see how it makes them feel. Especially knowing what I know and have seen!⁣

After my trip to the doctor and being no closer to any answers, I knew this wasn’t the end game. I knew there had to be another way!⁣

🥑 Food WAS + IS that answer.⁣

💭So my question to you is:⁣
Wouldn’t you rather try something and be completely blown away than to stay where you are continuing to struggle?⁣
