📣 ATTENTION LADIES! 📣
In addition to the decrease in muscle with normal aging, the drop in our estrogen levels during menopause exacerbates our muscle loss, leading to a more rapid decline in muscle mass and strength. If you are not currently strength training, it is imperative you start ASAP, no matter what your age. Even if not “in menopause,” you should be banking your muscle for the future. I like to think of muscle as the secret sauce to a happy, healthy, high-quality life. 💪🏼💪🏼

I started working at Burn Boot Camp Atascocita when they opened in January 2021. I had just become an empty nester and was open to a new opportunity, little did I know at the time how it would level up my life.

I would preach to others that growth comes when you step out of your comfort zone, but as I was telling others this, I never really realized that it had been quite some time since I had done that myself. I was training in a brand new group setting, having to use a microphone, learn the “Burn way” of training, learning and memorizing a lot of people’s names all at once, and training new exercises that I wasn’t accustomed to - I was WAY out of my comfort zone. I was nervous, scared, battling imposter syndrome and didn’t want to disappoint my new boss, Julie, that I respected so much. Thankfully the team I was working with were amazing, the new community we were building together was so inspiring (and still are to this day!). I was growing everyday mentally and physically. And the physical growth was the most surprising.

I started at Burn strongish. I was ok with maintaining my current fitness level at my age, so really wasn’t challenging myself anymore. I began working out at Burn more and more while not training, and began to get stronger. I can say now, that at age 54, I am stronger and more fit than I have ever been and I attribute that 💯 to working out at Burn.

Becoming a Burn member, not just a Trainer, has unlocked a newfound confidence to keep evolving mentally and physically. The more I research the importance of exercise for aging women, the more I realize the SUPERPOWERS of strength training for our muscles and minds. So whether or not you are “strongish,” or have never worked out before, I encourage you to START TODAY!
