75 year old client Susie Swaner hits her first ever 100 pound deadlift for 5 reps. Always exciting when a client hits a new milestone. For older adults, Deadlifts are essential. Nothing better for hip, back, and leg strength, grip strength, and even building bone density and balance. Don’t be afraid of lifting weights as you age. It’s the best thing you can do to preserve strength and muscle mass!!!

Visit the blog to check out this article on a very important topic....if we know certain habits and activities will make us healthier, then why do we put them off? Sometimes for years, sometimes for life, we suffer needlessly due to procrastinating on the habits that would improve our lives. If the COVID era has any silver lining at all, it's been a crystal clear display that those who prioritize their health and fitness have a far greater resistance to disease then those that don't. Don't wait until Jan 1 to start making better decisions about your health and fitness. Give us a call today and let us help get you on a path to a better quality of life.

We’ve all heard the saying a million times “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” And we know with some degree of medical certainty that eating an apple every day does not, in fact, prevent illness. But the saying is simply a metaphor, not to be taken too literally. The “apple” is a metap...

One of our athletes, Marshall Burke preparing for the upcoming football season (whenever that might be!!) by building up his lower body strength with some Squats and Deadlifts. For the youth athlete, the best thing to improve speed and prevent injury is to improve strength. Squats and Deadlifts are taught to all new athletes as a core feature of our athletic training programs. We have a 13 year history here of successfully training athletes in a wide variety of sports including football, baseball, swimming, track and field, MMA, volleyball, rowing, cycling, etc. There is no better facility in Kingwood to learn the fundamentals of strength training. Give us a call or email today to get your athlete training on a program that actually works!!!!

Upper Back and Rear Delt exercises are essential for athletes involved in “overhead sports” such as baseball (pitchers), swimmers, and tennis players. These athletes often present with shoulder pain from repetitive overhead motions such as pitching, serving, and freestyle swimming. Balancing that out with some weekly upper back work can pay a lot of dividends in developing strong, healthy, pain free shoulders. Our new client Micah (high school pitcher) performs 5 sets of 10 reps of a Facepull using a pair of Blast Straps. This is a great exercise for the upper back and rear delts.

Micahs full workout today:

-Back Squat 3 x 5
-Overhead Press 3 x 5
-Deadlift 3 x 5
-Bodyweight Circuit: Facepulls, Push Ups, Russian Twist (Abs).
