Reminder that CRT will be hosting its Spring ride this March 28th at the Bruceton Brandonville Volunteer Fire Department! Registration will start at 8am with the last buggy out at 11am. Cost is $20/buggy. Breakfast will be available for purchase with proceeds going to the BBVFD.

Yesterday, CRT participated in WV Tread Lightly day by picking up trash in the area around Rowlesburg. During the cleanup we met two friendly hikers who were hiking the Allegheny Trail. Matt and I gave them a tour of the back roads of Preston County so they could rest up for the remainder of their trek.

All,

We received the following information regarding a landslide from the West Virginia Land Trust:

I am writing to let you know that a landslide occurred on the West Virginia Land Trust's property at Jenkinsburg, behind the gated access road on the west (Masontown) side of the river that leads into the Devil's Den area-- downstream of the bridge. The landslide happened immediately below one of new road culverts and blocks ATV/vehicle access on that lower access road about 1/3 of the way to Devil's Den.

I want to let everyone know because this is a popular area, and the gate is occasionally used for EMS access.

Right now, the WV Land Trust will be posting a sign warning that there is an active landslide. We are asking people not to block the gate and to not attempt to clear debris or cut live or dead trees until we have a chance to notify and consult with WVDOH. I will not be surprised if there is further movement in upcoming storms.

There are several overhanging culverts directing water onto our hillside. Right now, the damages are on our property, but it is possible this could eventually create instability on Bull Run Rd.

We will be keeping the gate closed until further notice. Reach out if you have questions or concerns.
