🌟 COMMUNITY MEMBER OF THE WEEK: JARVIS DAVIS 🌟

This week, we’re proud to recognize Jarvis Davis, a lifelong member of the Freeport community whose dedication to our youth, athletics, and city spans decades.

Born and raised in Freeport, Texas, Jarvis is a proud graduate of Brazosport High School, Class of 1993. After high school, he recognized his calling to give back and began mentoring and coaching young people across our community.

Over the years, Jarvis has coached soccer, baseball, football, and basketball, including an incredible 14 years coaching the Brazosport 7-on-7 football team.

He served four years as president of the Freeport Hurricanes Youth Football League and coached for six years. During that time, the team made it to two Super Bowls, bringing home one championship.

His impact continued on the basketball court as well. Jarvis coached with the select basketball team No Fear, traveling throughout Texas and competing at a high level. Several of the young men he coached went on to help make history as members of the first Brazosport High School basketball team to compete for a state championship, earning the silver medal.

Jarvis also coached the Brazosport High School 7-on-7 football team, helping lead them to become the first Brazosport team to qualify for the state 7-on-7 tournament.

Beyond coaching, Jarvis has continued to serve his community through leadership. He has served as Brazosport High School Booster Club President for four years and is now serving again in that role. He also serves the people of Freeport as a City Councilman.

But perhaps his greatest accomplishment is the lasting impact he has had on the young people he coached and mentored. Many of those kids have grown into successful men and women, parents, and productive members of the Freeport community.

Jarvis, thank you for investing your time, energy, and heart into our youth and our community. Your commitment is a powerful reminder that true community leadership is about showing up, giving back, and helping the next generation succeed. ❤️

“It felt great. I’m back in my mode now. I was still positive when I wasn’t playing, but you can’t replace being back on the field. We left a lot of blood, sweat and tears out there. I haven’t felt this great in a long time.”
