Big news! Passing the torch…
Hi everyone,
Dylan here with an exciting announcement! After long consideration, I came to the decision to pass on ownership of the gym to Joey Stier, our Assistant Head Coach. The deal was finalized on Friday, so as of yesterday, Joey is the proud new owner of Innate Movement Parkour!
I am thrilled for what the future will bring as Joey takes over leadership of our movement community. He is perfectly suited for this role; in fact, there is no one on this planet more prepared or better positioned to take over leading the gym. Joey has been a dedicated part of the IMPK squad since 2016, and his training speaks for itself. He is an amazing coach and an even better person. The future is bright for IMPK!
On a personal note, I want to say how grateful I am for the incredible support you all have offered me since IMPK’s inception. Ten years ago, I was training parkour on my own in public places around the Mid-Hudson Valley and dreaming of having others to train with and a dedicated space for it. When I founded Innate Movement, it started with a few students in a park, then a rented corner of someone else’s gym, and then the first small space of our own. Since then, I have watched with joy and pride as our classes have grown and thrived. Today, I am even more proud to pass the torch to the next generation.
If you ever helped build or move one of our four gym locations over the years, thank you so, so much. I literally couldn’t have done this without you — you know who you are (and if you helped with the current gym, your name remains in a place of honor on the gym wall). If you have worked for me as an employee, thank you so much for your dedication, friendship, and passion for parkour. And to all our students and families, thank you for making possible my dream of a vibrant parkour community in Kingston. I sincerely hope that you will offer Joey the same support you have shown me.
As for me, I’m off to embrace my next challenge.
With humble gratitude,
Dylan
