What a start to the postseason for the Barn. 🔥

We kicked things off at High School Nationals and all of our athletes showed up and went to work. When it was all said and done we came away with 6 All-Americans and a National Champion - congratulations to Sam Josey!

Two weeks later, we hit Reno and kept the momentum going. Maeve Fernald led the charge, making a finals run, and the Barn added 3 more All-Americans!

And we’re nowhere near done.

Spartan Duals this weekend. King of the Mat is next, and NHSCA Duals to close out May.

We’re just getting started. Let’s go.

High School Nationals:
Samuel Josey - 1st
Shea Morris - 3rd
Sophie Grunhuvd - 4th
Peter Rincan - 6th
Sam Winship - 8th
Daniel Sheehan - 8th
Kai Napadow Baquero - 8th

Reno Worlds:
Maeve Fernald - 2nd
Ste Whisler - 4th
Reid Grandmason - 5th

Big weekend for our high school wrestlers as they compete at New Englands. Years of discipline, commitment and loyalty have led them here. Nothing flashy, just consistent hard work, day after day, year after year.

Our middle school and youth wrestlers will soon take the mat at Youth New Englands representing the same program and the same standard.

Nothing about these opportunities was given. They earned it.

It’s time to trust the work and wrestle with heart. Barn tough.

Smitty's Barn fall beginner program with Coach Cam is open for registration, and we have a few spots left!

Our beginner program is designed to create a solid foundation of basic wrestling skills for beginners, teach base level coordination, and to build personal confidence and a love for the sport. It's structured, but it's fun! For wrestlers ages 4-9 with less than 2 years of experience.

WHY IS WRESTLING BENEFICIAL AT A YOUNG AGE?
Wrestling at a young age offers a unique combination of physical, mental, and emotional benefits that can contribute to a child’s overall development. Physically, it promotes strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance, all of which can benefit a child in other sports and daily activities. Wrestling encourages discipline, teaching children how to set and pursue goals, manage their time, and push through challenges. On a cognitive level, the sport helps develop critical thinking, strategic decision-making, and the ability to focus under pressure. Wrestling cultivates emotional resilience, as children learn to navigate both wins and losses with poise. The team environment fosters social skills such as respect, communication, and teamwork. For parents, wrestling offers a structured way for children to build confidence, improve self-esteem, and develop important life skills. Whether they stick with wrestling, or move onto other sports, the foundation built on the mat stays with them for life.
