Through the valleys runs a river system awesome in its scope. The 125-mile-long Harpeth River is one. The Harpeth drains up to 1,000 tributaries as it meanders through six Middle Tennessee counties before emptying into the Cumberland River. The Harpeth River is the habitat for an amazing variety of wildlife, and, according to local legend, a few ghosts as well on a foggy morning. Along the Harpeth

River are Indian burial mounds famous for being in use as far back as 700 to 1,300 AD. More recently, a businessman called Montgomery Bell bought acreage around Narrows of the Harpeth. In 1818, he blasted a tunnel using slave labor and explosives. The Harpeth flows past Bell's property before it turns back on itself a few miles downriver. It is the property between these two sides of the same river that houses the tunnel. The flow of water was then used to power a mill called Pattison Forge. It turned raw pig iron into more workable pieces. The site of the old forge is now a lovely waterfall with a beautiful pond at the bottom. Visitors could walk or drive to see these beautiful attractions, but the best way to see them is by water. Visitors just wont understand the majesty of the cliffs until they have to look up at them. It's too low to/for some people, but not too low in general. Everyone who went this weekend said they had a good time. Experience varies. Yesterday a group said got stuck a bunch, a group said didn't get stuck at all, and another said a couple times. All on the same trip yesterday. But they all had a good time.

What a crazy year. Lost the best part of the season to rain and high water. Now we really need rain. This is only the 2nd year I can recall closing for low water. We definitely never lost the entire beginning of the year to high water before. That was ridiculous. 4th of July was our first weekend. We lost all of the spring and early summer, including Memorial Weekend. Now we low water ruined Labor Day weekend. It's normally low this time of year. But it's not normal to be this low.

UPDATE ON RIVER CONDITIONS. (After this I will text all bookings)
The water level is very low. There is hardly any current/flow. It's very rare to get this low. Other than last year, which was worse, it's been an extremely long time since it has been this low.
Someone complained last year at 0.47, and we decided that was too low. From then on we were closed unless it was over 0.5ft.
Between 0.5 and 0.6 is kinda iffy. It REALLY Matters how much you weigh and how well you navigate. It always matters. But the lower it is, the more it matters.
If the water level drops below 0.6ft we will probably be closed. If it is over 0.5 and not dropping (or is rising), we might be open. Meaning if it is like 0.56 and rising, or multiple 0.56 readings in a row, we might be open. I don't want customers to end up on the water below 0.50ft. The gauge readings are to the hundredth of a foot. Again....if it is Below 0.60, we Probably will just be closed. We don't want complaints or bad reviews. We want everyone to have a good time and know what they are getting into. We Will ONLY BE RUNNING THE 5 MILE TRIP (Ballpark) until the water goes up. It will average 3.5-4hrs. That time includes you paddling. You need to paddle. It is not a "float" time. It's probably 2hrs or more paddling.
We need rain. Hopefully we'll get some soon. Looks promising, but not in time for this weekend most likely.
If you have a booking, you will get a text shortly. If for some reason you don't get the text, you can text 615-887-3721. That is the number in the cancelation policy. Everyone this weekend has the option to Rebook to another date, or Cancel for a Refund due to the water level. The text will say that.
