Dress For Success!!
We have all seen the headline, fuel prices up, inflation out of control, people upset with the Supreme Court, riots expects, and on and on goes the bad news. Have you noticed the amount of murders lately? Two people were murdered within a mile and a half of my house a few weeks back.
So when you head out that door going to work, shopping, dinner with friends or family, or just running to the convenience store are you prepared to stop the threat if the bio waste forcibly encounters the rotating blade assembly vigorously at a hastened rate of travel. Are you dressed for success?
So you ask, why do I need to be ready for something if I am just running down to the little mom & pops store for a loaf of bread? Well, things can go south really quick anywhere you go, such as church, grocery store, gas station, etc. Are you going to take the gamble, or are you going to be ready.
One of my former students walked in a convenience store to get a soda or something and walked into an armed robbery, long story short, he caught a bullet in the leg, but he placed a few rounds at center of mass and the threat was terminated. He never expected to walk in a store in the middle of an armed robbery, but he did and he may have saved someone life to include his own life.
So a lot of us may be lounging around the house with some shorts and a t-shirt on, and you need to go to the store for a gallon of milk. Now you know and I know, that G***k G23 .40 S&W with a full thirteen round mag and one in the pipe is going to put those elastic waist short with a draw string around your ankles as soon as you strap it on, and a shoulder holster while wearing a “wife beater” (pardon the term) t-shirt is a no go too. So, what’s plan B?
Have an alternative method of protection to take with you. How about something less than lethal that’s light and easily concealed? Things pepper gel, or a taser are some ideas to start with.
Ladies, are you heading out to dinner and you’re dressed really classy and that dress just won’t hide that Lady Smith 38? How about a concealed carry purse? Yeah some of them aren’t that classy! But you can create your own by choosing a purse that you can modify or rig a small handgun in. My wife likes her Coach, Kate Spade, and Brahmin purses, and she has found things that sit in the purse to convert that classy purse to a concealed carry purse. Check out Packin’ Neat, Kristen always has great stuff on her website and we see her at a lot of major 2A events. She is a really nice lady and cares about her customers.
So the thing is, don’t ever say “It won’t happen to me”, because it can and it can happen very quickly and you need to be prepared. I am a southpaw and she’s right handed, so we even walk together so that we can both access our handguns and engage the threat together if need be. We even practice it on our little shooting area we have.
Stay safe, stay prepared, watch your six, and train often.
