Director of Boys Volleyball & Apparel: Ashton Hippenstiel
Setting the standard for excellence and leading the charge for our brand on and off the court! We are proud to highlight Coach Ashton Hippenstiel, who serves in the vital dual-role of Director of Boys Volleyball and Apparel at APVA.
Coach Ashton brings a wealth of high-level competitive experience and leadership to our club. Originally from California, he competed as an elite NCAA setter at both Cal State Northridge (Division I) and King University (Division II). He transitioned his passion to the collegiate sidelines at Tusculum University, serving as an indoor assistant coach before making history as the inaugural Head Coach for Tusculum's women’s beach volleyball program.
With over a decade of club and collegiate coaching experience, Coach Ashton is a true master of player development. He holds a master’s degree in talent development, bringing an elite, structured approach to building our boys' program and maximizing the potential of our athletes. Behind the scenes, his sharp eye for detail keeps our teams looking professional and unified in the latest APVA gear.
We are incredibly fortunate to have his expertise, vision, and dedication growing our boys' game and guiding our club presence this travel season!

Social Media Coordinator & Coach: Emma Scarce (Bice) 🏐✨
Continuing to elevate our brand and our athletes on and off the court! We are proud to highlight Emma Scarce (formerly Bice), who is continuing her essential work on our leadership team managing APVA social media and coaching within our academy!
Coach Emma has been immersed in the sport for most of her life. She was a dominant middle blocker at Volunteer High School before continuing her career at King University, where she spent five seasons as a middle blocker and was a proud member of the squad that captured the Conference Carolinas Championship title! 🏆
Emma has extensive experience on the local circuit, having played club for Kingsport Volleyball Club and Sullivan County Volleyball Club. Now entering her fourth season coaching club volleyball, she brings valuable 12U to 16U coaching experience to our staff. Outside of club, she also serves as the assistant coach alongside Coach Fergie at John Sevier Middle School.
We are incredibly fortunate to have her continuous dedication guiding our club presence and our players this travel season!

Program Coordinator: Alyssa Bishop (Hatley) 🏐✨
Continuing her incredible leadership with the APVA family! We are proud to highlight Alyssa Bishop (formerly Hatley), who is continuing her vital work on our staff as a Program Coordinator!
Alyssa remains an essential cornerstone of our leadership team, managing club programs, organizing camps and clinics, and expanding training opportunities for our athletes. She brings a powerhouse playing pedigree to our organization. She was a dominant four-time First Team All-Conference standout and the Big 6 Conference Player of the Year at Volunteer High School before going on to play NCAA Division I volleyball for the ETSU Buccaneers.
Holding a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from ETSU, Alyssa seamlessly blends her knowledge of high-level gameplay with her professional background as an educator. Her process-driven approach focuses on breaking down mechanics, optimizing skill development, and fostering an environment where every athlete can excel. We are so lucky to have her continuous dedication guiding our club operations and supporting our training staff this travel season!

Executive Director & Board Member: Kayce Green 🏐✨
Continuing to lead the way for our athletes this season! We are proud to highlight Kayce Green, who is continuing her vital role on our staff as the Executive Director of APVA, a member of our Board of Directors, and the head coach for our Girls 13U and Boys 18U teams!
Kayce brings over 16 years of coaching experience across elementary, middle school, high school, and college levels, along with a decade of mentoring fellow coaches. She has a proven track record of success with elite high school and club programs like Dobyns-Bennett, Nashville Christian, Club West, and Alliance Nashville, leading teams to multiple district championships, top regional rankings, and frequent appearances and placements at USAV and AAU nationals.
Her holistic coaching philosophy blends skill mastery with personal growth, focusing on character development, discipline, grit, and fun. Holding Master’s degrees in both Fine Arts Administration and Education, Kayce's process-minded approach empowers our athletes to reach their highest potential while loving the journey of the sport. We are incredibly fortunate to have her continuous vision leading the APVA family!

Assistant Director & Board Member: Kelli Ferguson ("Coach Fergie") 🏐✨
Continuing to elevate the APVA standard on and off the court! We are proud to highlight Kelli Ferguson, who is continuing her vital work on our leadership team as both an [APVA Assistant Director] and a member of the Board of Directors!
Known affectionately across the region as "Coach Fergie," Kelli orchestrates the backend of our academy, managing club logistics, travel operations, scheduling, and travel details. A lifelong athlete herself, she has dedicated 15 seasons as the head coach at John Sevier Middle School and has spent just as long serving in leadership and coaching roles across the local club circuit.
By day, Kelli serves our community as a school counselor, bringing an invaluable background in student mentorship straight to our volleyball family. Her true passion lies in building a strong team culture and empowering young people to face adversity, leverage their individual strengths, and grow into healthy, successful adults. We are incredibly fortunate to have Coach Fergie’s continuous guidance and operational mastery driving our club forward this travel season!

Back for another incredible season on the APVA sidelines! 🏐🔥
We are proud to highlight Adam VanOort, who is continuing his pivotal role on our staff as the Director of Coaching for APVA!
Coach VanOort has over a decade of elite high school and club coaching experience. He coached high school and club volleyball in Minnesota for 10 years, where he grew his high school program into a perennial state power. Since moving to Tennessee, he has coached club since 2022 and also coached at the collegiate level as an Assistant Coach for the ETSU Buccaneers for two seasons.
An expert in technical development and strategic play, many of Adam’s former high school and club players have moved on to play college volleyball at every level. His veteran leadership and vision remain instrumental in mentoring our staff and driving the development of every athlete in our academy this travel season!

Welcome Coach Fogel! 🏐🔥
Phoenix Fogel is bringing fresh, high-level NCAA Division I energy straight to the APVA court! Currently a standout player for the East Tennessee State University Buccaneers, Phoenix is an elite athlete who grew up immersed in the sport under a veteran coach.
Hailing from the Kansas City area, she competed at a top national tier with the prestigious MAVS KC and Dynasty volleyball clubs before making her move to East Tennessee. She is highly versatile with deep technical training across multiple positions, primarily dominating at the net as a middle blocker. Her current Division I playing perspective, passion for the game, and positive court presence will be an incredible asset for our growing athletes this season!

Welcome Coach Hoyle! 🏐‼️
Amanda Hoyle brings a deep passion for volleyball and a wealth of local competitive experience to the APVA family! A standout player at Science Hill High School, Amanda earned a scholarship to play at Milligan University, where she competed all four years as a dynamic outside hitter.
Following her collegiate career, she coached at Science Hill for two years before focusing on private lessons. After taking time off to start her family, Amanda returned to the court five years ago, offering high-level private training, coaching club for the last two years, and currently serving as the Assistant Coach at Daniel Boone High School.
We are thrilled to welcome Amanda to our coaching staff!

Welcome Coach Drooker! 🏐🔥
AJ Drooker is bringing championship power and high-energy leadership to the APVA sidelines! A dynamic setter and right-side hitter, AJ played collegiately at NCAA Division II King University, where he helped lead the Tornado to the Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance!
A standout athlete who also earned Academic All-District honors, AJ’s deep technical knowledge of attacking, blocking, and high-level court awareness will be invaluable for our athletes. We are thrilled to have a proven winner guiding our players this travel season!

Welcome Coach Jayne! 🏐🎉
Abbey Jayne brings a championship pedigree and incredible local legacy to the APVA family! A standout outside hitter from Sullivan South High School, Abbey went on to play collegiately at King University in Bristol, TN. She was a key part of the Tornado squad that captured the Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship during the unique 2020-21 spring season!
Her firsthand experience winning at the collegiate level, deep understanding of the game, and passion for player development make her an incredible asset to our training staff. We can't wait to see her inspire and elevate our athletes on the court this travel season!
