APRIL 2022
On April 1st, The Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame will be honoring Kingman Mayor Jen Miles with its Copper Star (Bucky O’Neill) Award. This award is presented to a former or serving official whose exceptional service rendered to the Arizona veteran’s community warrants special recognition. Mayor Miles support of military veterans through various resources has proved that it takes a village to get it done.
We had our Bullhead City Veterans Resource Fair on March 4th. From all the feedback, it was a success. Twenty-nine of our vendors turned in the requested survey. These vendors had 406 direct contacts with 188 assists. Four attendees received employment offers.
The next Veterans Resource Fair will be in Lake Havasu City in October. I will forward the flyer as soon as I receive it.
The Operation 6 program currently has 24 formerly homeless veterans with several to be interviewed.
The Tax season is coming to an end with returns needing to be dated by April 18th. Arizona State has a great program for Qualified Charitable Organizations. The JAVC is a QCO, and our listing is 21017. Our EIN is 46-1967830. You may direct your Arizona tax dollars to us or many of the other local charities at no cost to you. You can check it out at www.azdor.gov
The Kingman Elks Lodge #468 will be holding it’s annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner on Thursday April 28th at 5:30 PM. Location is the Elks Lodge, 900 Gates Ave, Kingman, AZ 86401;;
Ever wonder what to do with those old military uniforms or other items? A Lake Havasu City Non-Profit has been organizing the Mohave Military Museum. You can call Trudy at 714-400-5191 for more information.
The Veterans Administration has formed the AIR Commission to look into realigning the VIZN network. This is important if you are a member of the VHA and receive medical care from the VA. The proposed change is that Mohave County will be relocated to VIZN 21, Las Vegas from the VAMC Prescott. The JAVC membership voted unanimously at our last meeting to endorse this change. Some of the benefits include a closer hospital system with larger staff and less turnover, more outside providers available, and less issues with transportation. If you want a segmented copy of the Prescott changes, please email me at [email protected] for a copy.
Stay safe!

President, JAVC
